We haven’t been active on our Steam page… until now. From now on, we plan to share development updates for The War of the Worlds: Siberia once a week. Today, we’re answering some of the most frequently asked questions about the game.
— Why does the story take place before 1914, but the capital is called Petrograd instead of Saint Petersburg?
— The game is set in an alternate universe, so names may differ from real-world events. Don’t expect strict historical accuracy in a game inspired by a science fiction novel.
— Will there be DLCs, paid or free?
— We’ll share more information about this later.
— Will there be character customization?
— Changing the character’s appearance isn’t planned, but their look may change as part of the story.
— Which platforms will be available?
— PC, and hopefully consoles. We’re designing the game with console controls in mind.
— Will the game feature interconnected locations of different sizes, or will you be unable to return once you leave an area?
— You’ll only be able to return to a previously visited location by loading a save from that chapter.
— Will there be hunting for resources?
— No, the main character is not a hunter.
— What about side quests?
— There will be tasks that don’t advance the main story but provide challenges for players and help immerse them in the game world.
— What age rating are you aiming for?
— Our preliminary estimate is 18+.
— Will there be a photo mode?
— Yes, we plan to implement one.
— Will the game have replayability?
— We’re designing most areas with replayability in mind. Different difficulty settings will also allow players to approach challenges in various ways.
— Will there be branching paths to a given location?
— We’ll include such paths where it makes sense for the story and ensures an engaging adventure for the player.
