First, a public announcement for people who played the game before this build: THE SETTINGS AND UNLOCKS SYSTEM HAVE CHANGED, SO YOU WILL NEED TO RECONFIGURE VIDEO, AUDIO AND INPUT SETTINGS. Please, continue reading for more information regarding this.
Hello! Today we have started rolling the keys to our Kickstarter backers, so it is a very special day! We really hope the new players enjoy what we've got. We're still working on new content, bugfixes and improvements, but the game is close to being "finished", we feel.
Please, remember that the level selection is only temporary. The idea is to play the game from the factory on, but we're leaving those options there for the time being.
COMBAT PASS
We've made a general review of combat, addressing issues like too fast enemy attacks, a lack of warning for certain cannons, equipment which did not work as expected, etc. The changes are too many to list, but many of them will be, hopefully, evident and for the better.
Important ones, however:
- When shot from the air, guns do auto-targetting, so we reduced their damage output in the air.
- Improved the camera during FRANK-Y's fight.
- The dagger now works a little better, making backstabs easier to achieve.
- QUASSY fight has been noticeably improved, but some issues remain.
Check the Bugfixes section below for more.
Next, we'll work on improving the City and Sewers levels.
NEW UNLOCKS/SETTINGS ORGANIZATION
In order to make upgrading and managing the game easier, we've changed where and how settings, mainly the defaults, are read and saved in the game. This was part of a bigger change, which has pretty much all the quests implemented in the game.
Unfortunately, this means that previous configurations and unlocks will be lost. The most tech-savvy will easily find a way to transition their old values to the new system. However, many things have changed around, so even then, not all unlocked equipment would be recovered.
We've done this now because we think it is important to test the progression in its final form, instead of trying to carry old settings over and keep things miraculously working. We think this should be a one time change. From here on, it will be easier to import older settings, should we have to change things again.
DAMAGE BOOST AND RESISTANCE ICONS
Something not very apparent was that Heart can get improvements, like damage boosts and better defence. The new quests include several permanent improvements in there, so we decided to finally show that information to the players. So, the moment you get either improved or reduced stats, those will be displayed on the screen. This should help planning and evaluating equipment and upgrades.
