Update #6: Flybots and other tweaks

Note: due to technical/personal circumstances this week's Mac build will suffer a slight delay. Please, excuse the inconvenint. We'll upload it in the coming days.

Main changes

This week sees the end of Heartloween. As we said in the previous update, it will become part of the game as collectible equipment.

Regarding more important improvements, we are glad to let you know that the two major bugs the game had should be fixed now:

  • Flybots are trapped inside their cages
  • Lots of bolts being spawned in level 2 rendered the game unplayable

We have also rebalanced the City area, so it is a little easier now. By reducing the amount of robots spawned in it, the framerate should degrade less than it used to, making the level should be playable.

This rebalance affects the factory and sewers levels, to a certain degree. Enemy waves should be more cohesive now, spawning groups of similar robots. The prevalence of some enemy weapons has also been reduced (flybot laser), to avoid extremely difficult challenges.

Fixes and improvements

Other changes include:

  • Small change in how the pick up menu for body parts looks, and fixed an issue which could make its buttons look faded
  • It is again possible to run with a secondary (gun or shield) weapon equipped
  • Reduced the conditions in which enemies will stand passive until attacked. There are still some cases when this happens, but we're working on fixing them too
  • Improved enemy navigation, making them less prone to getting caught in loops between two points in the map
  • Dogs and smallbots are now able to overcome small heights in the terrain
  • Improved navigation in the city COPs precinct area
  • Added an ending sequence to placeholder city boss room
  • Input options Single Key Run and Alternative Weapon Selection are now independent

Coming soon

The art team has been hard at work getting the bosses for level 1 ready. We will start integrating them soon. Once they're finished, they'll start working on the new equipment parts and level 2 bosses. We'll introduce this content in coming builds as it is ready, but please, be patient.

See you in the coming weeks!
