Hi everyone,
Glad to see so many new players for Swan Song! We hope all of you are enjoying the game so far! 🥰
In this post we quickly wanted to update everyone on the current progress of the level editor. We have made very good progress with the implementation of the chapter creation menu. Below we have a small in-engine video of what the progress currently looks like. Please note that all UI elements and the screwdriver are still placeholder and will have a lot more feedback and polish added to them. The video below that showcases what creating a level would be like through the 3 different layers (Obstacles, Platforms & Details).
But how will the level editor work?
You will be able to publish your creations on the steam workshop when the full release is out. But it is not just one level you will push. Because Swan Song works with chapters, players will be able to create their own chapters of max 4 levels each. So you could upload a chapter with just 1 level, but also with a max of 4 levels.
This way we can give you some freedom do to a theme around your chapters (all rotating platforms, only 1 color,... for example).
When creating a new chapter you will be able to give it a name, add and remove levels, change the created level order, edit these individual levels & choose the background music & theme for your chapter. In the levels themselves you will have the freedom to place all the elements a level requires, platforms, obstacles (like hunters, trampolines,...) and the detail gears below.
Help us test the Level Editor!
We will be testing the level editor in the coming weeks through our discord community. If you want to have an early go with the editor itself, give us some valuable feedback, and play some community made levels, join our discord through this link to get notified when we need testers: https://discord.com/invite/hyEhfENBQN
That's all for now! Thanks again for the continued support, and we hope you will enjoy the level editor in the future (and the new puzzle elements coming with it)! 🥰
Cheers,
