Long time no see, monarchs and builders!
Many things happened since our announcement trailer for City Tales - Medieval Era!
One Demo, 50k wishlist and a release date, among other things!
Our little community is growing and we couldn’t be happier to see you play the demo and share your screenshots with us!
While you were playing an early build of our game, we have also been pretty busy on our side, gathering your feedback, working hard on implementing new features and refining core mechanics!
We will share our roadmap soon but here is a small sneak peek of what we are working on!

🖼️ Graphics
First and foremost, we have heard your biggest feedback: The grass is now greener than ever!

All jokes aside, we have reworked both lighting and shaders so we are moving toward warmer and more natural colours, while still keeping a vibrant colour palette (this is still a work in progress though!)

📈 Performances
We are still working on performances and optimization on the Early Access Build. We want the game to be accessible as much as possible, the process is taking some time so we can’t share much but we can already say that we have made some improvements.

🏡 District Creation
We have now added a button and a keybind for the District creation tool (also tied to middle mouse button and Shift).
District exclusion area will also show up when you get close to it so it will be easier for you to shape your city!
You will also be able to see the influence area of your district while building it!

📜 Intro
We are working on a new introduction feature where you will be able to choose your name, title and the map you want to start on, among other things! You will even be able to meet your very first companions and rename them!

We will also add more game modes, though they will not arrive at the same time during Early Access, and a few distinct starting points for a change of scenery, spatial and resources challenges depending on your choices.

🧭 Influence area
This is also still a work in progress.
One of our core mechanics is the management of Influence Area from Civil Buildings, where influence will be given by the district harboring the civil building (and not by the building itself). Previously, it was drawn as a full circle radiating from the center of your district, influencing a neighboring district if 40% of it was in range.
We are reworking the UX and UI to make it clearer and easier to read. While the 40% rule is still in effect, the shape of the influence area will now adapt according to the system to make it less confusing. You will even be able to see the shape change while creating your district if you have filters on and see the influence area of the district your building in real time.

🌲 Decorations
We are slowly adding decorations and ornaments! You will unlock more and more decorations as you progress and we will add more during early access.
This is still a work in progress, some decorations shown here might differ or not be all available at release due to polishing and balancing.

🦆 Life in the city & animals
Last but not least, we have changed the resource and hunting system so farewell giant boars and deers in the streets and castle!
Additionally, we have added more life and animations to the city, reworked our character models and we are filling the world with more details. But this will be the topic of our next Architect Log!
Thank you for your reading and thank you for your support!
