One of the core ideas behind Don't Wake the Beast is that not every reward should be easy to get.
As you explore the dungeon, you'll occasionally discover optional side paths leading to special rooms. The important word here is optional. You can ignore them completely and continue toward the Vault. But if you're willing to take a risk, these rooms may offer powerful rewards, rare collectibles, or opportunities that could shape the rest of your run.
Today we'd like to show three of these optional rooms.
The Garden
Not every secret in the dungeon is hidden behind traps and locked doors.
The Garden is a peaceful place filled with strange underground vegetation. Adventurers who discover it can gather a few healing fruits, making it a welcome stop after a rough section of the dungeon.
But that's not all.
Players who pay close attention may notice that one of the trees reacts in an unusual way. Those willing to experiment and think outside the box may uncover a hidden collectible tucked away among the greenery.

The Tomb
The Tomb presents a more tempting dilemma.
At its center rests an ancient sarcophagus. Opening it releases a particularly valuable treasure, making it one of the most lucrative optional rooms you can find.
Unfortunately, the dungeon doesn't appreciate grave robbers.
Disturbing the sarcophagus increases the dungeon's hostility level, making the remainder of your expedition significantly more dangerous. More threats, more pressure, and fewer opportunities to stay unnoticed.
The question becomes simple:
Do you walk away safely, or do you take the treasure and deal with the consequences later?

The Pact Room
Some opportunities only appear for the most ambitious thieves.
If you manage to clear the second floor quickly enough, a mysterious entrance may open near the exit. Beyond it lies the Pact Room.
Inside, you'll find powerful artifacts that can dramatically strengthen your character. However, nothing comes for free.
The keeper of this strange chamber doesn't want gold or treasure. Instead, you'll have to sacrifice part of your maximum health in exchange for these powerful items.
It's a deal that can make a run far easier - or leave you dangerously vulnerable when things inevitably go wrong.
Risk Versus Reward
The Garden, the Tomb, and the Pact Room all represent an important part of Don't Wake the Beast's design philosophy.
The safest path through the dungeon is rarely the most profitable one. Every optional room asks the same question in a different way:
How much danger are you willing to accept for a better reward?
And the most important question - what kind of optional room would you like to encounter in the dungeon?
