Over the past months, we've reworked some of the biggest parts of Shardbreakers. Through all of those changes, we kept coming back to one idea:
We want you to design your magic, not just collect upgrades.
What’s changed?
The Fusion system has been replaced by Resonance. Socket Shards together to create chains of spells, then rearrange them to change how your engine works. Where you place your Shards now matters - and moving just one can change the whole chain.
Combat has changed too. Your build defines your options, and you decide how to use them - move where it performs best, choose which enemies to prioritize, and decide when to use your key abilities. The goal is for combat to feel engaging because you’re actively steering the build you created, not just letting it play itself.
A full room isn't just danger. It's fuel for a working build.
Our next playtest begins September 18
Rather than just tell you about the changes, we'd like you to play them.
We're opening the new version of Shardbreakers for playtesting on September 18, and we'd love to hear what you think.
Whether you've followed Shardbreakers since the earlier version or you're discovering the game for the first time, you're welcome to join us.
