Hey Emberwake survivors!
I’ve been listening carefully to all the feedback you shared after playing the demo, and I’m excited to show you how your voice has shaped the game! It’s been quite the journey rebalancing and refining Emberwake to make survival more enjoyable, while still keeping things challenging. Let’s dive into the changes:
⚔️ Survival Just Got Smarter
Starting with one lonely villager? I heard you loud and clear—it was tough! Now, you’ll kick off your adventure with two villagers by your side, and the pace of the game has been fine-tuned. I’ve tweaked the resource gathering speed and adjusted how much you spend to keep things running smoothly. You’ll notice gathering resources feels quicker and more rewarding, but without losing the sense of struggle.
🌲 Resources Replenish Faster
Say goodbye to waiting ages for resources to come back! The land around your camp will now replenish resources faster, giving you more time to focus on strategy. It’s a delicate balance, so they don’t come back too quickly, but just enough to keep the pressure off without ruining the survival thrill.
🏰 New Buildings, New Strategies
I’ve expanded the buildings you can construct, making your survival even more interesting:
- The Owlery: No more guessing where the enemy is coming from—this will reveal the enemy’s attack direction.
- The Temple: Keep your villagers’ minds in check! With each upgrade, the Temple slows down sanity loss, ensuring your villagers stay focused on survival.
🧠 Sanity – A New Challenge
The old mechanic of villagers disappearing when off-camera at night? Gone. Now, you’ll deal with the Sanity System. As your villagers venture too far from the warmth of the campfire while it is dark, their sanity will start to slip. Question marks will pop up as their minds weaken, and if it hits zero, they’ll drop everything and sprint back to the campfire. They won’t work again until they’ve fully recovered their sanity. A bit of stress management to keep you on your toes!
🐺 A World Full of Events
I’ve added World Events to spice up your survival. Every time you gather resources, there’s a chance something magical happens. Will you:
- Help a wounded stag and gain the protection of an elven warrior?
- Nurture a magical seedling into a tree that provides food over time?
- Adopt a loyal pup that joins your camp, barking in the direction of danger?
- These events give you meaningful choices that can tip the scales of survival in your favor.
🏆 Leaderboard & Save System – Your Survival Legacy
The leaderboard is here! Prove your worth and see how you stack up against other players. Every move you make is part of a bigger survival story. And don’t worry, I’ve also added a save/load system, so you can jump back into the fight whenever you’re ready.
