Greetings, Crew Members!
Since Supersize My Heart was just a twinkle in my eye four and a half years ago, it's been an absolutely wild ride taking this game from concept all the way to release. I've been able to work with genuinely, astonishingly talented people from all around the world to bring this silly game together. Reading people's reviews and watching let's plays of the game - it's just all been absolutely phenomenal. An experience I wouldn't trade for anything.
Sadly, the time has come to bring support for Supersize My Heart to a close. Since launch, we released several bug fix patches, a major update that (in my opinion) massively improved the game by adding dialogue options to romance routes and throughout the core experience, rewrites to scenes, and additional polish and features throughout. However, we never got around to some very important stuff - namely, an addition of shorter route lengths and sexy romance routes for Sonny and Saul as free downloadable content. Those updates will sadly not happen.
Why? Put very, very simply: the game did not strike a chord with people, which I say with no degree of sadness or bitterness - just because y'all deserve to know the truth, and it's clearly evident anyway. As many who have followed the project since the beginning know, we had zero funding - I have funded the entirety of Supersize My Heart myself, from asset creation to QA to marketing, to the tune of about $35,000. To date, Supersize My Heart is at roughly $500 in sales.
And that is completely fine with me - I came into this project knowing how goofy and niche it was, and expecting to not make my investment back. That being said, the notable unpopularity of the game, combined with health problems in my eyes that've cropped up in the last year or so, and the fact that my position in my nine-to-five job was recently terminated - with all of these in mind, it is not possible to continue working on the game at this time.
I say again - it's been fun. I spent a small fortune creating this game, and I do not regret it. The writing could definitely be better, the code behind the scenes is absolute spaghetti - but with the help of amazing people, I made something! Who cares if it wasn't popular. If you're reading this, I hope you go out and make something, too. You can do it! If an idiot like me can, there's no doubt in my mind you'll crush it. And if you're one of the lovely few who bought the game, played it, streamed, left a review, any of that - from the bottom of my heart: thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
All the best, Crew Members! Keep on cooking, and always stay zesty! Ya wild animals!
