Hey, and welcome to our second monthly community update! It’s been a huge month since the launch of our Steam page: wishlists are coming in, the game is developing nicely, and we are planning for a game convention to show off our new build!

As always, we want to be totally transparent and let the community know how we are going with our Wishlists. After our launch we came out of the gate pretty strong but as expected things have slowed down since then. Our current number of Wishlists sits at 397. We are still ahead when tracking against our long-term goal of 7K Wishlists by launch but that lead will run out soon (eek!), so we are hoping we make it up with upcoming events and future developments.
Thanks for everyone who has wishlisted End of Ember and supported us in other ways on social media and so on. Love ya guts!

First up, when we launched our Steam Page we also launched our Gameplay Trailer, made by Dan with amazing music by Nathan (https://www.nathancummins.com.au/). Check it out!
If you know us personally, you might have heard that we had a fairly gnarly time on our Steam launch page in terms of some posting we did on Reddit. In short, we got banned and had a whole bunch of people saying some pretty nasty stuff. It was a big learning experience and we talked about it in more detail on a devlog:
Another update this month is that we joined the #xodus and started an account on Bluesky. We hope this will be another great way to develop a community around the game and get word out. If you are a fellow Blueskyer, join us there:

As always, you can join us on any of our socials (links at the bottom of this page).

Production is buzzing along. Eli is away for a bit (see below) but he did amazing work before he left so Dan has plenty of work to do engineside. He is currently building all the rooms, adding enemies, and implementing all the systems that Eli has built.
But yeah, we are making great progress on our ‘new project’ - same game, same art, but all new code to build systems properly from scratch. We hope that in a month or two we have a build which is pretty much the same content-wise as our janky alpha prototype (https://badplanstudios.itch.io/end-of-ember), but with fewer major bugs and softlocking errors. The great news is that the project will be in a good place to build out all the other systems we have planned and especially 20 million rooms Dan has in mind.
Our current target is to have the new project build ready for the South Australian Game Exhibition: https://www.safilm.com.au/latest-news/applications-for-sage-2025/ If you’re in Adelaide, put 7-8 February 2025 in your Calendars and come along to the special mature-rated section of the Exhibition to play End of Ember!

If you're not local, stay tuned to hear about playtesting, competitions and other stuff we have planned.

Big news for Eli - he got married on November 16th, 2024! YEEEWWWWWWW! Congratulations to Eli and Crystal. Chad and Dan were so excited to help celebrate the wedding (check the photo for a special guest), and right now Eli is off enjoying his honeymoon in North America. Say hi to Tay Tay!

That’s it for this one - don’t forget to like, comment and share this to help feed that algo.
Thanks for reading and catchya soon!
Love
Chad, Dan and Eli
