Adventurers, one year ago today we pressed the big green launch button on our first Steam release, honestly not knowing if anyone would show up.
Over 10,000 of you did. You stepped into Eldralith, built your quartets, fell to a once-beloved lich, then got up and tried again. And again. The world never seems to mind.
We wanted to mark the day properly. So here's a new update, a fresh Season, and a little look behind the curtain.
🎁 The Anniversary Update
Live now:
🃏 New Event: The Sleeping Phoenix: deep in the dungeons, something warm is dreaming. Tread softly.
💍 New Relic: Fire Ring: gain +1 Evasion and +5 Burn at the start of combat.
⚔️ New Skill: Twinfang (Rare): deals attack damage that grows by 2 with every use. Resets each combat.
⚖️ New Difficulty Modifiers: four new ways to curse yourself:
Slow Learner: XP required to level up dice is increased by 1
Chonk: Bosses have 30% more Max HP
Overachievers: Bosses have all skills upgraded
Oops: Remove starting relic
⚙️ Changes
Max HP of all enemies decreased by 5-10%
Bulwark loadout was changed, with Twinfang added as a starting item
🐛 Fixes
Fatal damage indication for the Burn effect now displays correctly
Fixed unlocking multiple hero levels not displaying correctly
Fixed wrong translation for "End Turn" in settings
Fixed achievements related to the compendium
🏅 Season 4 Begins
Season 4 is live, and with it comes a brand new leaderboard. Every hero has a Top 100, every spot is open, and everyone starts at zero today. This is the best moment all year to get your name up there.
Previous season highscores stay visible, and all new runs count toward Season 4.
🎲 Behind the Curtain
Since a lot of you found the game recently, here's the honest version of who we are.
Luck & Loot is made by 3 people (maybe more soon 😉). None of us do this full-time. We have regular jobs, and we build this game in the evenings and on weekends because we genuinely enjoy making games together. When we launched a year ago, we would have been thrilled with a few hundred players.
Instead, this past year we got to:
Welcome 10,000+ adventurers into Eldralith
Ship Fortune's Favor, The Forgotten Fleet, Starting Loadouts, and a steady stream of patches shaped by your feedback
Add Mac & Linux support, an official soundtrack, and 3 Seasons of leaderboards
Reach Very Positive reviews on Steam (91%!)
Every review, every bug report, every cursed build screenshot in Discord shaped what this game became. We read all of it. A lot of what's in the game today exists because one of you suggested it.
Thank you for giving our little game a chance.
🙏 One More Thing
If Luck & Loot gave you a good year, the best birthday gift you can give a small team is a Steam review. It takes a minute and it genuinely helps more people find the game.
And if you want to share your favorite run, report a cursed bug, or catch early hints of what we're working on next 👀, come hang out with us on Discord.
See you in the dungeons, adventurers. 🪙🎲💀
