Hey everyone! 👋
August was a quieter month for the team, with several members taking some well-deserved summer vacation. Even so, development kept moving forward as we continue preparing the best possible experience for our Early Access release in November.
We also know many of you are waiting to see the next evolution of the third-person rider animations. We made progress this month, but the latest iteration did not yet reach the quality bar we set for ourselves. Rather than showing something we know still needs work, we decided to keep refining the rider rig, animation system, and physics integration a little longer. The goal hasn't changed, and we're confident the extra work will be worth it once we're ready to show the result.
Before we get started, we have a small favor to ask:
👉 Wishlist on Steam 👈
We've now reached more than 67,000 wishlists! Every new wishlist helps us reach more motocross fans around the world and brings us one step closer to release.
Thank you for your continued support 🧡
🚧 What's new in August?
🧬 Physics Team (Pablo & John)
Animation Support
Our upcoming rider animations are designed to react to what is physically happening on the bike, rather than simply playing predefined movements. This means the physics system also needs to provide the right information to the animation system. Work continued this month on building that connection and preparing the foundation for more reactive rider movement.
Low-Speed Physics
Low-speed behaviour received additional attention this month:
Improved brake, clutch, and tyre behaviour when coming to a stop
Added forward and backward walking while on the bike
These may look like small details, but they play an important role in making the bike feel believable outside of full-speed riding.

⚙️ Dev Team (Jonathan, Lilian, JM & JN)
Game Modes
Work on the different race session types is now nearing completion.
The complete gate selection and race start sequence has also been polished, bringing another important part of the race experience closer to its final form.
UI Improvements
More work has gone into the user interface, including new screens for:
Rider customization
Bike customization
Both are still work in progress, but the overall customization flow is starting to take shape.

Multiplayer Progress
Multiplayer continues to improve every month.
This month included:
A more flexible system for storing ghosts and leaderboard data, designed with our long-term plans in mind
Further polishing of the party system
Better networking performance and flexibility, including P2P and LAN configurations
Improvements to network replication
There's still work ahead, but the multiplayer foundation continues to become stronger and more flexible.
🎨 Artistic Team (JV, Hellmachine, Mat, Louis & Thomas)
The art team continued expanding the tracks, customization options, and overall world of Motocross The Game.
Highlights include:
Estrella MX, our most beginner-friendly track, received a major dressing pass with new props and lighting
Many new rider customization designs were produced
Continued work on the exclusive Kickstarter gear rewards, including the boots
Rider customization system v1.0 is now complete
First version of the rider name and number system
Continued level design work and creation of new 3D assets
You'll find more of that work in the pictures below.

📅 What's next?
Summer break is over, and the team is back at full strength.
Here's what we're focusing on next:
New rider animations driven by physics, including a rework of the rider rig
Finalization of the Kickstarter exclusive gear rewards
Continued progress on several new tracks
Daily improvements to the physics
Improvements to the crash system
Continued multiplayer development
Further progress on bike customization
