The doors close. The whispers grow louder.
This is where it begins.
In our last Whisper, we introduced the world of Cult of the Child Eater - the Cold War orphanage, the cult that thrives within, and the horrors that hunt you. Now, we want to take you deeper into the very first moments of survival: Phase 1.
What to Expect
When the game begins, you and your fellow orphans are locked inside the main building of the orphanage. Its halls are dimly lit, the air thick with unease. Caretakers - priests and nuns - patrol quietly, preparing the ritual that will summon the Child Eater.
You have 30 minutes.
Around 30 minutes to search.
Around 30 minutes to solve puzzles.
Around 30 minutes to escape the building before the cult reveals its true face.
Along the way, you’ll uncover Lukas’ notes - scattered fragments left behind by the one orphan who managed to escape. They’re your lifeline, your guide, and sometimes your only chance of making sense of the orphanage’s shifting puzzles.

Tips & Tricks
Stay quiet. Stay together. Splitting up too soon can end badly.
Use hiding spots wisely; you can hide indefinitely. But be careful… After the turning, fear and hallucinations start to kick in! Your field of view turns dizzy and red; we call it the “dynamic hallucination engine”.
Puzzle chains matter. Solving one puzzle often unlocks another, leading to shortcuts that can save your life later in the run.
Find some cool and useful tools and items to help you survive. Use your player's special ability and develop it. You will need it during the turning phase!
Important Tip: Use the map. Check your progress. There are clues on the puzzletree.

The Turning
At around the 15-minute mark, everything changes. (Depending on your progress)
The caretakers stop pretending to be human. Their bodies twist, their movements sharpen, and the music swells to announce the shift. We call this moment The Turning.
Priests drop to all fours, climbing walls and ceilings.
Nuns scream as they chase, their cries shaking your vision.
Every mistake becomes louder, every second heavier.
If you’ve been captured, this is your brief chance at freedom - prisoners are released as the ritual begins. It’s a moment of chaos. Use it well, or don’t use it at all.

What’s Next
Phase 1 is about learning the rhythm of fear: listening, hiding, and deciding whether to risk everything for one more note, one more clue, one more locked door.
In our next Whisper, we’ll take you into Phase 2: The Wings and the Garden, where the true monsters of the cult await - and where puzzles become more than just locks to open.
For now, we want to hear from you:
👉 Do you rush for the exit when Phase 1 begins, or do you risk exploring every room for secrets?
