Squeak O' The Mornin' to you fellow rats!
I have updated the game with its first major content update since 1.0! There is new things. I shall tell you about them here. But before I do, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who's played, enjoyed and/or reviewed the game. It's still amazing to me that so many people not only have played, but also seem to like the game too! So thank you so much. It really makes it all worthwhile.
If you have been enjoying the game but have not yet left a positive review, please do! It would really help not just the algorithm but also people who might be on the fence about whether to give the game a go. And also it would make the rats happy. And the rats must be happy. Or they will come. They will come in the night and feast upon us all. They will gnaw on our bones and sleep in our skulls! THEY WILL - ah what? What just happened? I kinda just blacked out a bit for a sec there. Ahem.
Anyway, on to the patch notes!
(Beware there are potentially minor spoilers below)
NEW NEST ROOM: STASH
This room allows you to stash Gear items. These items can be then retrieved at a later date and will not be wiped in the event of your (very likely) death.
They do not cross over to other save slots.
It is unlocked like any other Nest room with 1 RatPower.
You must unequip any Gear you are wearing before being able to stash it.
You can also store CHz here. Even though CHz is never lost on death, players have requested this feature as a way to manage their CHz expenditure during missions.
NEW SPECIAL RAT: SHOUTY RAT
This rat will give your troops a temporary speed boost as they pass by, using their megaphone to fill hearts with vigour through their motivational words. Words such as "HURRY UP"
NEW SKINS:
2 Head Slot Skins
Ratoom Slayer. Gnaw and squeak, until it is done. Awarded for conquering 20 territories.
Ratinator. THE TRUTH IS REVEALED. YOU WERE ALWAYS A TECHNORAT! No, just kidding. That's not canon. But, with this new skin, you can look like it. It is as if your outer flesh was torn away revealing your metal endoskeleton underneath. Awarded for winning 10 Skirmish battles.
1 Body Slot Skin
Ratinated. EVEN MORE TRUTHS REVEALED! Again, just kidding. It is a companion skin for the Ratinator head. Awarded for clearing 2 New Game Plus runs.
1 Back Slot Skin
Trained (Ratda). A little green rat with big ears is strapped to your back. Squeak, or squeak not. There is no rat. If you know you know. I mean it's not very subtle. You'll know. Awarded for beating the Campaign twice.
NEW THROWABLE: MJRATNIR
(pronounced Mee-uh-rat-neer.) This weapon is based off of the ancient RatGod Thorat's legendary weapon. It is not the actual weapon itself, as that would be blasphemous. Instead, our scienceraticians have created something that looks and functions similarly. It will generate lightning strikes in an area around wherever the weapon lands.
NEW BOSS BEHAVIOUR:
The Boss Rat will now attack you with one of its tails if you get too close. (The tails cannot be destroyed.)
BUG FIXES/POLISH/QoL:
A bunch of little friendly rats will now come running out of the enemy base when it's destroyed.
The Boss Rat tentacle closest to screen was out of visual layer order. This has been fixed.
All artillery barrages in the game were not being queue freed after running, this has been fixed. (Probably no change will be noticed by most people but it might help with late-game or long-play performance in some cases)
Upped the base damage of the Stick Grenratter by 10%
When upgrading your Special Rat Cooldown in the Upgrades menu, it was not automatically updating the cost/tier until leaving the menu and going back. It was also causing the wrong cost label to turn off and also not updating the info text correctly to being maxed out. This has all been fixed.
Nade Damage Up description in the Upgrade Menu now includes Mines.
Fixed an issue where after completing a Skirmish or New Game Plus mission the game might hang on a black screen when returning to the Nest.
Adjusted the collision shapes of the little rats that run around the Nest so they aren't all on the exact same visual depth.
And that is, how they say, that. I hope you enjoy the new content and the game as a whole. Please let me know what you think. I am always open to feedback. In fact, the Stash was a direct result of you guys, I wouldn't have added it otherwise, so keep it up!
Happy rat killin!
Regards,
Brian
