Our setting is Muziris, India: an ancient Keralite city lost to a flood in 1341, whose location is still hotly debated by archaeologists and historians. We are inspired by real-life Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, and the folklore and traditions of the Malabar region. We are so excited to bring a game set in India to a global gaming audience.
All Will Rise is a mythical eco-crime thriller about taking the powerful to court for the murder of a river. It’s inspired by hit films like Kantaara, and courtroom dramas like Pink, Jai Bhim, Drishyam and Kahaani, and supernatural-fantasy epics like Loka. We’re also inspired by the drama and excitement of anime, and the animist folklore of Dravidian India, and the wild theyyams of the North Malabar. Our gaming influences are Ace Attorney, Disco Elysium and Citizen Sleeper.
The game is also a love letter to the lawyers, activists and ordinary people who fight for our rights and the rights of nature against the corrupt and powerful, in systems which are rigged against them.
Despite being one of the most populous nations on Earth, India is so rarely represented in video games. We want to change that, and bring India’s rich history, traditions and culture to a global gaming audience — the battle for the future starts in Muziris, India, where corporations, corrupt governments and ineffective regulators are challenged by ordinary people who want a better life.
