Hey everyone! We’re super excited to finally announce that Trombone Champ: Unflattened is launching on November 26! This is a big deal for us at Flat2VR Studios, and we can’t wait to bring this reimagined version of the viral hit to Steam VR.
How It All Started
When the original Trombone Champ dropped, it was impossible to ignore how perfectly chaotic and fun it was. Our first thought was, This game belongs in VR. That’s how this whole journey started—our lead dev, Rai, whipped up a quick mod to test the waters, and it turned out to be incredible. The VR potential was obvious, and that’s when we knew we had to take it further.
Bringing the Game to Life in VR
From the start, we wanted Trombone Champ: Unflattened to feel like it was built for VR from the ground up. One of the first big changes was moving beyond the static flat-screen gameplay. Instead of staring straight ahead at a virtual screen, you’re now performing in a somewhat chaotic concert hall, surrounded by an audience that reacts to your every note. When you nail it, they cheer. When you don’t... well, let’s just say they don’t hold back.
We’ve also added a second note lane to make tracks feel more dynamic while keeping the experience accessible to everyone. And of course, we brought over the awesome custom track support, so you can load up and play your favorite songs made by the community. It’s been incredible to see what players have created, and we’re thrilled to see how much farther this can go in VR.
What’s Next?
The launch on November 26 is just the beginning. We already have free updates and DLC in the pipeline, starting with a holiday update that’s coming sooner than you might think. Without giving too much away, let’s just say you might want to brush up on your seasonal tunes.
And beyond that? More trombones, more tracks, and even more ways to make the game your own. Check out our website, where we’ll be posting a detailed post launch roadmap soon!
Thank You!
To everyone who’s been along for the ride, thank you. Whether you’re a die-hard Trombone Champ fan or you’re picking up a virtual trombone for the first time, you’re the reason we do this. We’re beyond excited to share this next chapter with you—and to give you a glimpse of what else we’re cooking up at Flat2VR!
So go ahead, wishlist Trombone Champ: Unflattened now, mark November 26 on your calendar, and get ready to blow us all away (literally)!
