Dear all,
Here's the release notes for V1.07
New Features
- Foresight now officially have Steam Achievements. Some require progress, some require grinding and some require certain skills. Have fun!
- Added an achievement gallery in the Options menu where you can see the progress of your achievements and some statistics. P.S. I don't like how the statistics are presented as well and will some day in the future improve the look and feel of it.
- Added a cutscene gallery in the options menu (only accessible from main menu's options) to allow you to revisit Thomas Lock's journey throughout the entire campaign. Cutscenes can be unlocked retrospectively. That means, if you complete the LAST mission in the campaign, you'll unlock ALL the cutscenes.
- Certain mission achievements are awarded retrospectively as well.
- UNC Repair mode can now be used on ships as well. However, there must be a UNC Shipyard in the current sector for it to work. It will not send ships back to remote locations automatically.
- Implemented Quick Save and Quick Load. Default keys are either Ctrl+F5, Ctrl+F7 OR F6 and F7 depending on whether if it's a new install or existing. I'd advise you to change your keys for your own comfort. Quick save requires 1 save to be done so that it can remember which slot to save at. Quick load depends on that as well. That way you no longer need to go into the options to save.
- Added new resolution support.
1) 1600x1050 (16:10)
2) 1440x900 (16:10)
3) 1280x800 (16:10)
4) 2560x1440 (16:9)
5) 2048x1152 (16:9)
Reasoned that even though the 2D sprites might stretch, the 3D assets won't be stretched that much. The scene should still look nice despite the higher than recommended resolution support.
- WINDOWED mode is up!
Yes! For those who are very used to doing Alt+tabs in/out and having problems restoring Foresight under Steam client - now you can use Windowed mode. It's located in the Options -> Graphics - Select Windowed checkbox and press Apply.
There're some changes to this.
1) Alt+Enter no longer switches between modes. This switch was never recommended and it doesn't correct the aspect ratio properly most of the time, leading to weird looking squashed or stretched graphic glitches.
2) Foresight will try its best to fit your desktop resolution. This may or may not be possible. If it's not possible, you might end up with a larger than usual window - which you can fix by selecting the right resolution in the list.
3) We're well-aware that despite having windowed mode, there's a slight inaccuracy in the vertical pixels, causing certain blending lines to appear at certain Y heights. This is due to pixels being allocated to Windows border and top frame. We'll resolve this in due time.
P.S. Alt+tab issue disappears completely with windowed mode at the expense of roughly 8-15% of performance. V-sync isn't allowed in Windowed mode and will be automatically disabled if Windowed mode is chosen.
Enhancements
- Improved the way fighters, interceptors and bombers die across all 3 factions. The key is to randomize a wait instead of having a fixed waiting time. This will allow some breathing space for processing and improves the overall randomness of fighters' death sequence (especially when they're all killed at the same time)
- Slightly optimized fighter deaths by reducing the number of particles they emit during the sequence.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where level 0 shortcut key binds can be modified, but isn't reflected in-game until the game is restarted.
- Fixed a bug in the Controls section where SOME of the key bindings are actually not shown. Now, the whole set of possible key binds will be shown.
- Fixed a bug when a game is loaded, UNC Command Centers or NSAU Strongholds will allow you to build another structure EVEN when it's supposed to be building its current structure. This causes the existing u/c structure to remain in semi-transparent state and it simply goes into limbo without recourse.
- Fixed a bug where a ships being selected aren't updated correctly when the PLAYER (ie, Thomas Lock) jumps into another sector. Ship in command radius are supposed to lose all options immediately. This fix mostly fixed the graphic side of things - the gameplay isn't affected.
- Fixed missing featured voice actors in the prologue cutscene.
- Fixed a problem with multiplayer chats for clients who might see double or more PER message sent.
- Fixed a bug for client-side NSAU turrets where the turret appears not to be charging itself.
P.S. I might edit this announcement if I missed out any information.
Regards,
Jeremy
