As the developer behind Zombie Invasion, under The Pens Den, I want to address concerns raised about the use of pre-made assets, particularly regarding the Horror FPS Kit.
Asset Usage
We legally purchased the Horror FPS Kit and The Ancient Set from the Unity Asset Store, and like many indie developers, we used certain aspects of this kit to help bring our vision to life. Using pre-made assets is a common and accepted practice in game development, especially for small teams or solo developers, as it helps save time on basic mechanics and focus on creating original content.
However, I want to emphasize that while some elements of the FPS kit were utilized (e.g., basic mechanics), the vast majority of the game's content is original and designed by us at The Pens Den.
Custom Development
The following key features were not part of the purchased asset pack and were entirely developed by our team, taking months of hard work and iteration:
The Marketplace System: A fully functional marketplace for in-game transactions and currency.
Endless Waves: Custom-designed endless wave mechanics to increase gameplay difficulty and immersion.
Horde Events: Unique horde event scenarios that add challenge and excitement.
Skills with Currency: A skills system integrated with an in-game currency, giving players a dynamic way to progress and customize their playstyle.
Each of these features was coded, tested, and refined to align with our vision for Zombie Invasion, differentiating it from a simple asset flip.
Final Thoughts
We are committed to creating unique, high-quality experiences for our players, and I believe in transparency about our development process. We value your feedback, and we’re always open to discussions with our community about ways to improve the game.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Sincerely,
The Pens Den
