The allocation of the 24 slots for the Friendly Series is no longer distributed equally among the six confederations. The new format grants AFC (Asia) and CAF (Africa) each an additional slot, while OFC (Oceania) and CONMEBOL (South America) are limited to only three teams each.
The tournament format has also been updated. The second group stage is now divided into two groups, with the winner of each group advancing directly to the final knockout match. These two group winners will face off to determine the ultimate champion of the event.
