Every fighting game has that one character.
The one people pick as a joke…
…and then suddenly no one’s laughing anymore.
In Fablelight, that character is Granny Boom.
At first glance, she’s exactly what she sounds like, an old lady with a bad attitude and way too many weapons. But once players get their hands on her, something clicks.
Granny Boom isn’t just comic relief. She’s control.
Her kit revolves around space, pressure, and chaos:
Handgun to keep opponents in check
Rifle for long-range dominance
Explosives that force movement and create openings
A close-range melee swing when things get scrappy
She doesn’t rush you down; she makes you come to her.
And when you do, you’re already playing her game.
At recent playtests, Granny has consistently become the fan favorite. New players gravitate toward her because she’s fun and explosive (literally), while more experienced players quickly realize how much control she has over the pace of a match.
I’ve seen entire groups form rivalries around her.
I’ve seen tournaments where everyone switches to Granny halfway through.
I’ve even had matches come down to the last pixel of health with Granny on both sides.
She’s unpredictable, a little unfair (in a good way), and incredibly satisfying to play.
And the best part?
She still has room to grow.
As development continues, I’m refining her tools, tightening her feel, and exploring just how far her playstyle can go without losing what makes her special.
If you haven’t tried her yet…
be careful.
You might not go back.
