Happy New Year!
I wanted to share a development update on Dokkalfar and let you know what we’ve been working on.
A NEW DEMO IS IMMINENT

First and foremost: a new demo is coming very soon.
It’s currently being tested on the playtest branch — huge thanks to everyone who’s been helping us test so far!
This demo is a completely new, self-contained experience. We rebuilt it from the ground up with a clear goal:
Set up the game’s core narrative
Deliver a focused slice of gameplay
Avoid spoilers or wasted progress
The result is a 5–10 minute narrative experience that culminates in a proper boss fight — a concentrated taste of what the full game is aiming to be.
We’ll be updating the demo fairly quietly at first. As a very small indie team, we can’t afford large-scale playtesting, so we’ll be relying on early player feedback to help vet the build.
That means we’ll need your help:
Play the demo
Share feedback
Spread the word if you enjoy it
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
Alongside the new demo, we’ve made meaningful performance improvements across the game.
The upcoming demo is now playable on Steam Deck, which is a big step forward from earlier builds. Performance can still dip in more demanding scenes — especially environments with heavy particle effects — as we continue balancing visual quality and performance.
If you have the option, we currently recommend streaming to Deck for the smoothest experience. That said, a lot of work has gone into getting the game back on the right track for handheld play, and this is something we’ll continue refining as development progresses.
NEW MUSIC
You may have noticed some new music in recent builds.
Vilakshan and his team have been hard at work crafting the soundtrack of Dokkalfar, and we’re incredibly happy with how it’s shaping up. This is a clip from one of our Ice Tower dungeon which previews a new music track. Follow us on YouTube for more OST drops!
WHAT’S NEXT
For now, we’re continuing to focus on building the game:
New environments
New weapons
New spells and abilities
There’s still a lot ahead, and we’re excited to keep pushing Dokkalfar forward.
FOLLOW DEVELOPMENT
We’re also slowly building up our other social channels. You can find links on the bottom of this page!
Our YouTube channel will be a great place for more documentation-style videos, where we break down mechanics and systems in detail. Also short-form gameplay teasers will be posted in these other channels.
KICKSTARTER PLANS
Eventually, we’ll be running a Kickstarter campaign.
A lot of people who know we’re truly indie ask how they can support the project, and we really appreciate that. The Kickstarter pre-launch will likely begin around March (hopefully sooner, if everything lines up).
ONE LAST THING…
We’ve entered a few contests recently — fingers crossed.
We’ll post again very soon when the new demo officially drops.
Thanks so much for supporting Dokkalfar — and please help us spread the word!
