We've converted the collision system from arcade to simulation. Multiplayer collisions are now physically-accurate. Your mass is a powerful weapon that determines how well you execute and withstand ram attacks. Equip heavier items, add some spikes, and pit your loadout against others
Before: multiplayer collisions either killed your momentum or sent you flying into narnia
Now: combines your RAM stat * mass * velocity to determine the force applied, while DEFENSE helps negate RAM damage
Weight: determines how much force is applied in collisions
Velocity: scales with weight to increase impact force and direction
RAM stat: multiplies the final force by your loadout's ram stat
Defense stat: dampens the final force and damage applied by your opponent's collision
Jetpacks, strafe, flight abilities: use them to avoid ram attacks altogether if you're building a lightweight loadout, or combine them with a heavy vehicle to crush your opponent
Spikes: deals extra damage if you or someone else rams a spiked portion of a vehicle
Blunt: spreads impact forces across its surface to dampen ram attacks
ex. spiked wheels + spiked body armor combined with a horizontal strafe attack will deal more damage that non-spiked wheels. spiked front guard combined with a head-on ram attack will deal more damage than a blunt front guard
Powerful loadout synergies:
Jackhammer (heavy + jetpack/flight): land on your opponent to crush them
Nimble (light + jetpack/strafe): quickly avoid ram attacks
Hooker (heavy + grapple): grapple your opponent to rapidly increase velocity and quadruple ram damage
Thorn (full spike kit + max Defense): engage handbrakes and let them ram you
Speeder (heavy + hyperboost): reach max energy to double your NOS boost, then boost within 1 second of a collision to maximize RAM damage
Useful tips:
Ram with the most fortified portion of your vehicle, which is never the rear
Use the impact force of your secondary weapon projectile to slow down a ram attack just before it impacts you
Use boost and/or quickturn a split second before a ram attack to add additional torque to the collision
Equip spiked wheels and a spiked body kit, then strafe horizontally (or use quickturn) into your opponent to maximize spike damage
Picking up a double boost augment will also double your ram damage when executing a boost-assisted ram
Before committing to a ram attack, you should quickly estimate your opponent's relative weight by looking at their vehicle class (motorcycle, buggy, coupe, sedan, van, pickup truck, semi truck), spiked equipment, and heavy items such as thick wheels or body armor
Don't use a motorcycle to ram a semi truck
