Hello there,
After getting a lot of great feedback from you all I have made a bunch of quality of life changes to the core system! This might be the last demo build since the game is going to be released into early access on March 24th.
Cheers,
Aarimous
- Left click can now pan the camera and the tech tree when you are not on a UI element, placing tiles, or grabbing villagers
- Simplified the villager work mechanic to instead just show that villagers can collect 1 resource per turn (mainly this was confusing for new players and didn’t really add much)
- Move the villager tooltip to show above the title tooltip instead of next to the villager. The tooltip felt like it got in the way.
- Removed population cap being tied to tiles and now I’ll just balance the costs so you can more naturally gain villagers as you’re village progresses
- Added a new UI indicator which shows the villager's anchored tile and then the movement cost to move them around. The indicator will turn red when you are outside their movement speed. Goal of this is to make movement cost clearer and show that the villagers are anchored to the tile they started their turn on.
- Adjust the UI layout (yet again).
- Discoverable islands now show the types of tiles they will contain. Goal of this is to make tile placement more interesting.
- Increased the area you can place your first tiles group (which can result in you discovering an island right away. Again the goal is to make the first tile group you place a more interesting decision.
- The first island you discover will no longer have a chest. Goal here is to make the new player experience less overwhelming since opening a chest on turn one would be a lot.
- Tiles now spawn with their max uses. This is to reward you even more for making good adjacency choices and yes I will need to rebalance the game around this change.
- You no longer collect resources from the tiles after placing things this is to make the above change less OP (plus it was a very exploitable feature which resulted in you not really needing to use your villagers to collect resources
- Removed the limitation where you could only build stuff in the movement range of your villagers
