I've very pleased to announce that version 4.03 is now live! This adds many new features, including...
- On-Board System Scanner: Players can now access a cutting-edge (for 1983) system scanner, allowing for detailed identification of nearby celestial bodies, a new targeting and navigation system..and even the chance to find mysterious distress calls from amongst the stars.
- Overhauled Orbital Physics: A complete rework of orbital mechanics brings the game’s physics engine closer to reality, offering more accurate gravitational effects and flight dynamics.
- Starmap Overhaul: The starmap now includes improved graphics, system details, and new features that make exploration and planning interstellar routes more intuitive.
- Revamped Spacecraft Interiors: Players can immerse themselves in their spacecraft like never before with new models, enhanced graphics, and improved interior layout to make ship control more intuitive.
- Dynamic Temperature System Overhaul – The game’s dynamic temperature system has been refined to deliver more realistic environmental effects.
- Temperature Effects on Ship – Ships are now more susceptible to environmental hazards such as extreme heat and cold, impacting performance and requiring players to monitor and manage ship systems to prevent catastrophic failures.
- New Control Panels, Interactions, and Sound Effects – New control panels and interactions enhance the tactile feel of piloting the spacecraft, while a range of new sound effects provide an auditory experience that deepens immersion.
- Player Death and "Game Over" Scenarios – For the first time, Inter Solar 83 introduces player death mechanics. Harsh space environments, critical system failures, and plain old pilot error now come with real stakes, adding intensity to every flight.
- Bug Fixes and Improvements – In addition to these major updates, the game has undergone significant performance improvements, fixing bugs and optimizing gameplay for a smoother, more stable experience.
I hope you enjoy the update! As ever I would like to thank everyone who has supported the project via the Patreon. I literally couldn't do it without your help, and fantastic input to help shape the game.
