Welcome back to our Dev Chat series, where we pull back the curtain and share the direction, challenges, and ideas shaping Duriano. With thousands of runs played and a growing community behind us, it’s time to answer the big question:
What’s next for Duriano?
In this post, we’ll walk you through what we’re building behind the scenes — from upcoming features to major system expansions — and how your feedback is helping us shape the Nine Realms.
1. More Heroes, More Builds, More Chaos
The current roster of 7 durian heroes offers a lot of variety, but we know players want even more unique starting styles and strategies. We're working on new characters with radically different scaling mechanics — including one that leans into cooldown-based damage and another that thrives on low health.
Each new hero isn’t just a stat reshuffle — it’s a chance to open up a new archetype for builds. Expect new traits, stat tradeoffs, and entirely different ways to approach Trail synergy.
2. New God’s Trails Are Coming
Right now, players are finding smart ways to master the existing Trails — Forseti, Mimir, Frigg, Eir, Hoor, Hodr, and Vidar. But the pantheon isn’t complete.
We’re introducing at least two new God’s Trails in upcoming patches. These will come with their own:
- Blessing biases
- Unique Resonance effects
- Strategic trade-offs
They’ll open the door for playstyles not currently supported — including status effects, summon mechanics, and more luck-manipulation builds.
3. More Weapon Types and Interactions
Weapon diversity is a huge part of Duriano’s gameplay loop. Right now, we have a solid foundation, but we’re expanding the arsenal with:
- New weapon types (including support-based and charge-up weapons)
- New damage types and amplification mechanics
- Deeper synergy between specific God Trails and certain weapons
This means more ways to tailor your run — and more reasons to revisit older heroes with new strategies.
4. Quality of Life & Feedback Features
We're also working on improvements based on your feedback:
- Better UI clarity for Trail and stat stacking
- Hero selection improvements and in-game stat summaries
- Additional controller and keyboard hotkey options
- Improved death breakdown so you can review your run in detail
We want your victories to feel earned — and your defeats to teach you something.
5. Community Involvement Is Just Beginning
Our Early Access phase is built around player feedback. We’re listening on Steam, Discord, and social platforms to help guide:
- Balance tuning
- Trail scaling adjustments
- Augment variety
- Visual clarity in high-intensity fights
We’ve already implemented multiple fixes and balance changes directly from player bug reports — and that will continue. You’re not just playing Duriano. You’re helping build it.
Final Word: We're Just Getting Started
Duriano launched with a strong foundation — and what’s coming next is even bigger. New heroes, deeper builds, and expanded lore will take the game further into myth and madness. This is a game designed to grow run by run, patch by patch.
Thank you for being part of the journey. We can’t wait to show you what’s next.
