Hi there B.G.S members! First off,
BOARD GAME SOCIETY HAS JUST BEEN RELEASED!
Holy cr*p! We have been waiting for such a long time to be able to put B.G.S into your hands, and today, we finally were able to! We are hoping with all of our hearts that you will be happy with what we have accomplished on our limited time and manpower, and that you will have a LOT of fun with your friends in the coming days & weeks.
However, we wanted to also highlight the fact that just because the game is released, development is not over. We still have a bunch more content cooking, that will be available for you and updated under the months going forward, so let us proudly present, THE ROADMAP!
This is the overview of the content that will be added to B.G.S in successive order. However, because we are such a small team (me, myself and I), we are not able to say exact dates these things will be added, but we are pushing to get all of the mentioned contents into the game before the end of the year. Su what does these points even mean?
Pass & Play:
Pass & play, hotseat, local play, a loved child has many names (Swedish proverb), is the ability to play multiple people on the same device, one after the other. It is not local splitscreen, because you will share the same keyboard & mouse / controller, and just give it over when it is your turn to play, completely locally on one device. With this update, we will look into and hopefully also add the ability to play the game completely offline, and also controller support. Chock full update, we know, but its something that resonates with the purpose of us creating this game, a board game come alive, so we value this highly. This will be the first larger update for the game.
More boards & Monsters:
At launch, Board Game Society will contain 2 boards; Camp Kilgore, And Carnival Carnage. With each board, a new set of monsters will be created to "complete the set" of a new board setup, together with new events, more customization, and new bosses. These will be added in intervals as larger content rounds, the first one coming already in October, with Halloween. How many that will be released, we'll hold secret for a little bit longer...
New Ability Cards
The ability cards have merely just been dipped in the waters of all the available decks and cards we have come up with. New setups of cards that doesnt just alter a players game stats, so called "exotics" will be added, that can be everything from traps on the board, teleport-in-a-box, or even curses to mess even more with your friends all across the board. We are planning to add a bunch more, that will come in a future larger content update.
More Events & Minigames
We will add a BUNCH more stuff that can happen during a normal game. Our events are as of now, in their babe phase. We already have 20+ more events & minigame-events planned up and in development, they just need to be fully gamtested, and implemented before we can release them. In the future, we will also give the option to decide either which events you would like to be able to trigger during a game, or just toggle them off entirely, but that is a different conversation. OH, also, if you feel like you have a really really good idea for an event, don't hesitate to tell us about it! We absolutely love implementing stuff from you guys.
Dice customization & "Powered Dice"
This one should almost be two points. Ofcourse, we'll add even more dice to the dice customization, all available to be unlocked in-game, no buyable DLC or mumbo jumbo, if you play the game, you will be able to unlock it all. If you have any fun ideas on what a dice could be like, we'd love to hear about it!
Powered dice, is a bit special. In the future, we'd like to have the optional setup for a player to have enchanced their dices with passive abilites. These will be announced in a better manner going forward, as this is still under heavy development, so more info will come further on.
Customize Your Rounds:
This one is a straight up rip-off from PEAK, because its... Peak. We will add the possibilty to change a bunch of different settings on your game rounds to customize the game towards your own playstyle, if you want to. It will ofcourse not stop at basic settings such as "moves: 2-6", instead we want you to test wacky sh... stuff as much as possible, give everyone 10 cards at start, move 20 steps, make events happen after every single round who cares. Lets just have fun with it.
New Gamemodes:
Singleplayer already contains 3 separate game modes at launch, and this is something we want to expand upon for multiplayer aswell. Team matches, fully co-op gameplay, time trial and hardcore for multiplayer. We want to expand the playstyles for people as much as we possibly can.
Added Strategic Player Choices:
The basics of Board Game Society is to have a casual time, playing a casual game with your friends, casually. HOWEVER, we've gotten a lot of feedback, and sometime feel it ourselves aswell, that it might be... too casual. So we want to add a bit more strategic choice into the game, with new helpers out in the world (i.e teleporter and healing vending machines are considered helpers), more underdog help for people that start to lag too much behind, and other balancing features. Don't worry though, because of "customize your rounds" update, you'll be able to toggle most of these additions on and off in settings, if you want to juts play the "O.G, classical, retro" B.G.S when this update arrives.
Interactive Board Events
The name might be a bit misleading, but what it actually means is that we want the specific boards to have specific gameplay features, local hazards where people might get hurt, hidden shortcuts that can be activated, and other fun stuff to make the boards feel more specialized.
These are the large dots, and between these larger content updates, we'll of-course come out with a bunch of other smaller updates, with quality-of-life enhancements, balancing tweaks, bugfixes, you name it.
So once again, THE GAME IS OUT, LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Have a Jetebra day!
