ECHOES OF VOLUCRIS — MAJOR UPDATE
This is not mankind’s story anymore.
Bug Alliance is changing.
This Major Update is more than a collection of new content. It restructures how you experience the world, how the story unfolds, and how far you can push a run before the chaos takes over.
Story Mode is now its own experience. Chaos Surge has been rebuilt around escalating chaos. The Lore Book has evolved into the Volucris Archives.
And this is only the beginning.
IMPORTANT: SAVE DATA RESET
With this Major Update, existing save data will be reset. As Bug Alliance is still in Early Access, we are restructuring how progression and the story are experienced from the very beginning.
We want every player — including those already playing — to experience the new journey as intended, starting with the Prologue and progressing naturally through the new Story Mode and its chapters. Resetting progression allows everyone to experience the complete narrative flow without missing content that would otherwise be skipped on an existing save.
Thank you for understanding and for being part of Bug Alliance during Early Access.
STORY MODE — THE WAR FOR VOLUCRIS
The story of Bug Alliance now has a home of its own.
Story progression is no longer something you need to uncover by repeatedly clearing the same maps on higher difficulties. Story Mode is now a dedicated chapter-based campaign, built to let you experience Volucris and its conflict directly.
Travel through different regions, encounter hostile factions, face story-related bosses and uncover what humanity left behind.
Progress through chapters and episodes
Explore different regions of Volucris
Encounter factions with their own enemies and threats
Face major story bosses
Unlock new pieces of the world through the Volucris Archives
Play the story with your unlocked Bug Warriors
Every chapter pushes the Alliance deeper into the history of Volucris — and closer to the truth behind humanity's disappearance.
CHAOS SURGE — HOW FAR CAN YOU PUSH IT?
Chaos Surge is no longer just about surviving longer.
It is now an escalating battle against a world that is literally closing in around you.
Kill enemies and survive to increase your Chaos Level. As the level rises, enemies become increasingly dangerous — while the deadly Chaos Fog begins spreading across the battlefield.
The longer you stay alive, the less space you have left to fight.
THE CHAOS FOG
The Chaos Fog continuously pushes into the playable area, forcing you to keep moving and adapt your positioning as the run becomes more dangerous.
It does not simply increase enemy numbers.
It takes the battlefield away from you.
CHARGE THE PURISTAL
Every new Chaos Level charges one of the Puristal's three energy slots.
Fill all three slots and survive the next boss encounter to activate the Puristal.
When triggered, it releases a powerful purification wave, temporarily cleansing the Chaos Fog and giving you precious space to breathe again.
But the relief will not last forever.
The Fog will return.
CHOOSE YOUR NEXT BATTLEFIELD
Every three Chaos Levels, two portals appear.
Choose one and you will be transported to a random battlefield carrying its own conditions.
Each destination comes with:
A different map
A bonus
A penalty
Another decision your build must survive
You might find exactly what your build needs.
Or make the next three Chaos Levels considerably worse.
KEEP PUSHING
Chaos Surge continues for as long as you can survive.
Endless Chaos Levels
Escalating enemies, elites and bosses
Constantly spreading Chaos Fog
Puristal purification cycles
Portal decisions every three Chaos Levels
Random map bonuses and penalties
Increasing pressure on every build
Highest Chaos Level leaderboard
Highest Kill Count leaderboard
Your build will become stronger.
The world around it will become worse.
INTRODUCING THE VOLUCRIS ARCHIVES
The old Lore Book is gone.
In its place comes the Volucris Archives — a new way to discover and follow the history of Bug Alliance.
The Archives grow as you progress through the game, gradually revealing the people, creatures, places and events that shaped Volucris.
At first, players will be able to access Chronicles, while the other sections will be marked as Coming Soon and expanded in future updates.
Discover:
Chronicles — the events behind the world and its conflicts
Allies — the origins and stories of the Alliance (Coming Soon)
Enemies — records of the creatures and factions you encounter (Coming Soon)
Regions — the history of the lands you fight across (Coming Soon)
Classified Records — information that was never meant to survive (Coming Soon)
Not everything will be available from the beginning.
Some records must be earned.
Some answers must be found.
And some things were buried for a reason.
PROGRESS BEYOND THE RUN
A failed run does not mean starting from nothing.
Continue building the Alliance through persistent progression:
Increase the Rank of your Bug Warriors
Rank up weapons and abilities
Unlock additional characters
Unlock new weapons, abilities and Tactical Gear
Complete Challenges and Tasks
Earn progression rewards and skins
Expand the Volucris Archives
Experiment with new build combinations and Synergies
Chase higher Chaos Surge records
With every run, the Alliance grows stronger and new ways to play begin to open up.
A NEW FOUNDATION FOR BUG ALLIANCE
This Major Update represents the direction we want Bug Alliance to grow in.
Story Mode gives the world and its characters room to breathe.
Chaos Surge gives players a place to test everything they have learned.
The Volucris Archives connects those experiences and gradually reveals the history behind them.
And the build system remains at the center of both.
There is much more of Volucris still waiting to be uncovered.
More stories.
More enemies.
More battles.
And much more chaos.
THE MAJOR UPDATE IS HERE!
Whether you are returning to Volucris or joining the Alliance for the first time, this is the best time to enter the swarm.
Thank you to everyone who has played, tested, reported bugs, shared feedback and helped us shape Bug Alliance during Early Access.
Welcome back to Volucris.
Now let's see how long you can keep the Fog away.
