Hey! Now that 1.2 is largely done (at least at the development level), let's talk about what's in store for 1.3 and why it's a little foggy with this one.
The fuzziness of 1.3
1.3 will have some features that are guaranteed, and other features that are more on the whim on if they are made for the engine in time. The thing about the game engine we use, Flowlab. is that it used to just be a classroom tool to teach kids how to code. It's only in the past couple years that the engine has been used to create genuine commercial games, and since its programming language is entirely tied to the engine, the engine has had a lot of missing features that have been gradually added over the years. This is why the game lacks things like mouse locking or achievements.
Because of this, we don't exactly know everything that is to come in 1.3. However, we can still share a list of what will be in the update, and what could be:
Guaranteed Features
- Pausing during gameplay
- A list of all tracks and your scores/ranks for each
- Improved audio, such as adaptive music for albums & pitch variation for sound effects like slashes
- Ability to invert the player to be black rather than white, which can help visibility
- Improved UI for the results screen
Potential Features
- Custom characters (draw your own or just link a png to have a fully custom parser & weapon)
- Steam achievements
- Cursor locking (vertical and/or in-screen)
As said before, these features rest on if they gain engine support by the time the other features are done.
The Roadmap
As visualized below, 1.3 is the only update left before 2.0 begins development. For all of the potential features above, if they aren't implemented for 1.3, you can expect them to be ready for 2.0.

Regardless, Sunday Devlogs will continue to be posted as development goes on. I don't have anything brand new to report this week other than the 1.2 launch because of school projects & Thanksgiving, but I'll be back to work on Parse-O-Rhythm this week. Till then, and thanks for reading!
