Hello everyone, Welcome to our first of many dev updates! For this first one, we'll delve into the Trapper!
Shockingly, the Trapper is all about traps. Homing rockets, bombs, shock traps, hammer fists, water guns etc. Any previously docile piece of furniture can become something of nightmares.
Yes, that is a toilet with eyes being propelled by a rocket.
Prior to the Bandits arriving, the Trapper has a few minutes to booby trap the house to make sure the Bandits aren't successful in looting the house.
In each map, there are towers placed around the environment. The Trapper can enter these to place traps in the furniture-they're also able to travel between each tower quickly.
Traps are automatically activated when Bandits are near the trap or interact with it. As the Trapper, you are able to enter that piece of furniture and personally drive it around and activate the trap at your leisure. So yes, feel free to fly around in a bookcase and chase the Bandits.
In addition, you can manually activate traps while in a tower once the Bandits have breached the house. To maximize chaos, a smart Trapper will launch traps in tandem with others to hit the Bandits with a "combo." In the gif below, a shock ball is bouncing around while the Trapper simultaneously launches a tornado.
The chaotic gameplay of Bandit Trap is driven by our wacky physics engine. For example, if a Bandit sets off a water bomb on the second level of a house-water will cascade to the first floor of the house causing it to flood. Bandits are much more exposed while swimming.
All the walls in a level are fully destructible, opening up tons of emergent gameplay moments for both the Trapper and Bandit. Be careful to not accidentally knock down a wall and give Bandits easier access into a room. But also don't be afraid to break down a wall to send a Bandit flying!
In addition, we’ve improved friend matchmaking a lot:
Friends that have been invited stay invited after each session!
You can now kick friends during matchmaking
You can now make a friend leader of a match
You can now re-assign / swap roles for Bandit / Trapper once friends are in a room,
More on our to-do list:
Being able to quickly rematch the last session
Quick next match session Thanks for reading and we'll see you in the next dev log! Join the Discord!
