First of all: Hello! How are you all doing?
It has been exactly 18 months since the release of Chapter 1 of Yume no Office, and to be honest, we never expected the reception the game ended up getting.
We are just about to reach 1,000 copies sold, and we couldn’t be happier that our studio’s first project has been received so well—especially considering that we had no prior development history or anything like that.
So we want to thank everyone who believed in us, and especially those who left reviews. Your feedback helped us stand out and also gave us many valuable points on how to improve the project even further.
“Yeah yeah, thanks for the love, but… when are the next chapters coming out?”
Our original plan was to release everything on March 19th, but personal life issues and work commitments ended up delaying parts of the team—especially on the art side and on my side as the programmer. As many of you know, when it comes to programming, I—K-Bayashi—am the one responsible for making sure the game doesn’t collapse under its own code.
At the same time, Pimienta Kast has been handling UI design, CG art, sprites, the new library cover, store art, and more. Because of that, the workload ended up increasing by at least 200%. (Don’t worry though—we both do this with a lot of care and fully aware of how demanding it can be.)
Because of this, the new projected release window—one that we do not intend to move again—is June of this year. We know many of you were hoping for this month, but we would rather give you one last small disappointment now than release something that turns the whole game into a big disappointment later.
Due to the recent release of Chapter 5 of Deltarune on June 24, we have decided to move the release date to July 2, ONE WEEK later than originally planned.
We understand the inconvenience, but it’s not possible to compete for attention against the creator of Undertale. With this update, we want to clarify that this isn’t due to a lack of content; we simply want to ensure we get the attention we need so we aren’t overshadowed by a bigger game—that’s all.
“Do you at least have screenshots of the current state of the game?”
I’m glad you asked! We actually have plenty, and you’ll see them below.
“Wait… are you really sure it will release in June?”
Absolutely. Chapter 2 is about 90% complete, and Chapter 3 is roughly 50% done. The next step will be reviewing the English translation, since the Spanish proofreading and editing are already finished.
“Will the update be sold as DLC?”
Not at all. Everyone who already purchased the game will receive these chapters for free.
From me and from the rest of the team, that’s all we have to say for now—other than thank you for all the support and kindness you’ve shown us. We hope the release of the next chapters will be a big moment, both for our current small community and for the one we hope will continue to grow.
Sincerely,
K-Bayashi — Team Yume
