Hey everyone! While Alpha 1.7 hasn’t seen a new patch in the last couple of weeks (Patch 6 was the most recent), that’s because I’ve been hard at work on something much bigger: Alpha 2.0 — and it’s shaping up to be a major leap for Venusville!
Today, I want to give you an early peek at one of the biggest additions in the upcoming update: the Carrier Robot. This is the very first robotic unit entering the game, and it’s built for one thing — moving resources fast and efficiently.
Unlike colonists, Carrier Bots are purpose-built for hauling resource boxes across the city. They're twice as fast, need fewer upkeep requirements, and can operate in harsher environments where humans might struggle. You’ll be able to manufacture them in-game, and they’ll auto-charge at Robo Charger pads. For maintenance, they’ll either seek out engineers or head to future repair pads (a new structure currently in development — preview coming soon!).
They’re more specialized than colonists — no multitasking, just raw carrying power. But with upgrades, you’ll be able to boost their carrying capacity and movement speed, making them a key part of your workforce.
This is just one of the many additions coming in Alpha 2.0: new buildings, new interior structures, a new first mission after the tutorial, save/load functionality, 2 new languages, and a whole wave of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.
I’ll keep doing these previews to share the journey with you as we push toward the next big milestone!
More to come. Stay tuned. 🌫️🏙️🚀
