MBTA Commuter builds on the types of operation previously seen the Boston - Providence route Add-on but taking things west towards the city of Worcester, MA. In addition to the classic F40PH-3C locomotives and Single-level cars from the previous Boston route, a brand-new locomotive to Train Sim World is available in the form of the HSP46.
This sleek diesel powered loco features a more modern cab and stop-start functionality to a bring a more contemporary feel to the trains of Boston and beyond. The new Bi-level cars also add more authenticity to the route, with mixed consists appearing on services as they do across a number of MBTA's Commuter Rail lines.
Along the way, players will be able to ferry baseball fans to Lansdowne and Fenway Park, then off to the Massachusetts suburbs via Framingham, before arriving at the Commonwealth State's second biggest city: Worcester.
Fans of other US Train Sim World route Add-ons will be able to utilise their collection to add a host of freight services to the route, including unusual MBTA flat car trains and local CSX freight services between Framingham and Worcester.
The Add-ons required to unlock all additional freight services are:
- Sand Patch Grade
- BNSF SD70ACe loco Add-on
- Sherman Hill
- Horseshoe Curve
- Cajon Pass
Additional Amtrak passenger services can also be unlocked with:
- Northeast Corridor: Boston-Providence
- Amtrak's Acela® loco Add-on
We previously indicated that all layers would be available for all platforms. However, after reviewing performance on previous-generation consoles, we've amended the timetable to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).
These players will now not get the Amtrak's Acela® services, most of which are AI services. We apologies for any inconvenience caused.
