Greetings Convicts,
Summer is dead and the heatwaves are over (deodorant companies are in shambles), and with it comes a new update! Put up your dukes, because the Boxer has had a serious redux, along with every single one of the hundreds of arenas in the game receiving an overhaul, and lots of other stuff besides. Fewer bullet points but more business then usual to get to, so here's what's new:
NEW Boss Fight Redux: Boxer
NEW All Current Arena Overhaul
NEW Multiple Save Slots
NEW Arenas & Theme Connections
NEW Loading Screen Tips
Shotgun Reload Reworks
Additional Controller & Steam Deck Support
Plenty of Bug Fixes
Legs
What a list! With round one out of the way, let's ring the bell and see what's up....
BOSS REDUX: BOXER

STEP INTO A DEADLIER RING
Redesigned from the ground up to be punchier, fightier and more smashy, the whole fight has been overhauled to feature new mechanics, attacks and a new design. The Boxer also displays a troublesome new trait - his armour makes him completely invincible. Bit of a bummer. If only he had some way of exposing his soft delicate bits that you could exploit...he'll also berate you for the entire duration of your rapidly diminishing life.

You'll also find yourself fighting him in a redesigned arena. More height variation and cover makes avoiding his new and reworked attacks manageable, though of course not easy.
ALL ARENAS HAVE BEEN OVERHAULED

ALL ARENAS HAVE BEEN REWORKED TO KICK YOUR ASS BETTER
Since release, the gameplay loop of Breakout has changed somewhat. More of an emphasis on the 'bullet hell' aspects of dodging shots and enemies means that some of the arenas designed at launch no longer play as well as they could, so they've all been given a once over. Many have been remade from the ground up, others have had layout reworks or small changes, and all have had an art pass to make sure they're all pretty (in a grungy, ugly kind of way) next to each other.

NEW ARENAS JOIN THE FIGHT
Alongside the changes to current arenas, new places to test your mettle against the bot's metal have arrived, including filling in the missing links between the Hydro and Tech themes. This means you'll switch around a lot more often, granting you access to more grenade types, as well as a larger pool of arenas in general.

SAVE SLOTS FOR MULTIPLE RUNS AT ONCE

START FRESH WITHOUT LOSING YOUR PRECIOUS RUNS
We've all been there; you come to a game, see your current save, but know that if you load in and die all your progress will be in the bin. Well, worry no more! You now have three save slots at your disposal, along with indicators to tell you what upgrades you've acquired in a particular run just in case you forget. If you've got a current run in progress before this update, it'll automatically be transferred to Save 1, so no progress is lost. Robodex data is shared between all save files, so no need to collect the same Datapad three times.
LOADING SCREEN TIPS & TRICKS
Loading screens are nice and all that, but they're not very helpful are they? No longer! You can now see a variety of tips (roughly 70 or so) while your game loads covering everything from essential mechanics to story trivia, and even musings on whether Dr Anderson can fit under the maximum height of a fast food drive through. Spoilers: I don't think she can.
SHOTGUN RELOADS ARE NOW FASTER
A highly practised movement, minor internal mechanism reworks and WD40 applied to the shotgun's move-y bits means that you can now reload much quicker, as well as shoot out of reloading more responsively. Not much to say on this other then it's just better now, so you're welcome!
ADDITIONAL CONTROLLER & STEAM DECK SUPPORT
In the options menu you'll now find support for Aim Assist, because knowing when to ask for help is the real punk rock. This is good for controllers, but it's great for Steam Deck players who can now reasonably hit a target without painting half the wall in the process (I'm a controller dude so my jabs come from a place of love). In addition to this, some tightening up on the backend means that Breakout is now better supported on Linux! Wahoo!
MICHELLE HAS LEGS NOW

MICHELLE HAS LEGS NOW
Michelle has legs now. That is all.

READY FOR THE NEXT ROUND?
Wow, what a list! Plenty of stuff to be grinding at while you wait for GTA VI to release. All previous save games are compatible with this update as per usual, with your current save game going into Save 1, and your Robodex data is shared over all save slots. All possible steps were taken to prevent Robodex data loss in the transition, but it cannot be 100% guaranteed.
Are you also a hate-filled soulless machine with incredible punching power? Maybe you just like complaining and giving "constructive feedback"? Perhaps you'd like to try your luck asking for a free steam key to resell at a mark-up on a dodgy website? The email gremlins await your thoughts at [email protected] or post in the discussions!
