Development Update #1: What’s New in Rise of the Bugs?
Hello everyone! This is Xauxe Games, and I'm excited to share the progress on our 2D pixel platformer! Not many people know, but the game is being developed by a single person. Today, I'll talk about what’s already done, what I plan to work on next, and the goals set for the release of the demo version of the game.
🚀 What’s Already Done?
Several key elements that form the foundation of the gameplay have already been implemented:
- Character-switching mechanics: One of the game's main features is the ability to switch between different types of bugs. Currently, some characters have been animated and added.
- Initial levels are complete: These levels introduce you to the basics of controls, the storyline, and the core mechanics. You’ll also meet your first enemies and experience the damage system and checkpoints.
- Enemies: Several types of enemies have been animated and added to the game.
- The character upgrade book is implemented.
- Testing: All current levels have been tested and are working without errors.
🔨 What Will Be in the Demo?
We are moving towards releasing a short but rich demo version, which will include several levels. The demo will introduce you to the game's core mechanics and character abilities.
- Limited character access: The demo will allow you to try out two bugs characters with different abilities. The full collection of characters can be unlocked as you progress in the full game after its release.
- Additional enemies and bosses: In the demo, you’ll encounter new enemies. They won’t pose a huge threat but will help demonstrate the gameplay differences between various bug types.
- Gameplay variety: Destructible objects and puzzles will be present in the levels.
- Sound design: We’re working on sound effects and background music.
- Main menu and game settings.
- Testing and feedback: Your feedback is incredibly important to me! I’m actively testing the game, and once the demo is ready, I’ll invite you to give it a try. Feel free to join our community for feedback, suggestions, and chatting with other players in our Discord.
Thank you for following the development process! We’re creating with passion to bring this game to life, and I hope you’ll enjoy what I’m working on for you. Stay tuned for more updates, because there’s a lot of exciting things ahead!
Best regards,
