After a week in open beta, this update is now ready for release to all Steam players of Automation (standalone update comes tomorrow)! There are countless of small changes and fixes, but the most prominent additions definitely are:
New Model/Trim Flow
The new UI flow of making Models and Trims allows you to make model series of cars with multiple trims of different body variants stretched over a wide range of years. The new fixture templates make possible a quick creation of a whole lineup, using a base design you craft first that for each Trim can be individually adjusted along with the morphs of the car, which now also can be carried out with fixtures on the cars.
Naturally Aspirated V6 Engines
This update brings the much requested V6 engines to the game. While we do not have turbos ready for them yet (coming in the next big update!), this very compact engine configuration will help you cram some capacity into tight engine bays.
Steam Workshop Integration
We have fundamentally changed how Automation handles mods and made it much more modding friendly. Via the Steam Workshop you can now subscribe to and download all kinds of car bodies and fixtures. We are looking forward to seeing a thriving modding community for the game, and don't be surprised to be contacted by us if you make awesome stuff to be included in the core game! Please note that the proper modding support and integration is optimized for the Steam version of the game.
In the next few days we will continue polishing up the update a bit more and fix any severe issues with the patch. Once that is out of the way we are finally starting to get the first tycoon aspects into the game. The first thing will be buyer demographics and their evaluation of your cars compared to the competition. Keep an eye out for progress updates posted on our YouTube channel.
Enjoy the update and all those fancy mods!
