Villager AI Evolution
- Villagers now have basic needs like Drinking, Eating, and Sleeping, adding more life and realism to their daily routines. You'll see them move purposefully through town, visiting local spots and interacting more naturally with their environment. Shortly to come they should also have a new goal: traveling between cities and villages, creating more dynamic movement across the game world.
Animations
- While just placeholders for now...I've introduced them to ensure the logic behind animations is functioning correctly. This groundwork will make it easy to swap in more polished animations later, while giving villagers some life-like actions for now. Though watching them float around was kind of funny.
- Save System Improvements: Performance optimizations have been made to the save system, providing a smoother and faster save/load experience.
Great Results for Stress Test
- I was very happy that the AI coding for the NPC's ran pretty well. While their current tasks are still simple I was able to maintain 95+ FPS even with nearly 200 active NPC's running around a singular village. (For reference there will ever only be a few dozen active at one time as the ones you don't see are placed into a dormant state or not rendered).
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a large FPS drop that occurred when several villagers tried to buy items from the player. The system is now optimized to keep gameplay smooth during busy moments.
- Addressed a critical issue with item and player position consistency during loading. Items and characters will now appear exactly where they were saved, ensuring continuity without frustrating misplacements. This was little tricky due to everything being "physics" based but it's now working properly. These updates are just a glimpse of the exciting progress as I continue to bring more life and detail to your medieval world. Thank you for being part of this journey!
