Hello H-Hour Community!
We hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend and were able to spend some time with friends and family.
Last Friday saw the release of our H-Hour upgrade patch showcasing the improved hit registry, rendering, parallel processing, netcode and graphical capabilities made possible by the migration to 4.11.2. We also saw the return of our bomb game modes on the official servers. For more information on the patch and to join in the conversation, check out the Patch Notes. Feedback we have seen from the H-Hour community since the release include comments that they are seeing improvements to hit registration, smoother gameplay, better ping stability, improved graphics and lighting as well as higher FPS.
What’s Ahead?
- The team is working on fixing the last of the crash/kick bugs in Extraction so a hotfix can be released and this mode returned to rotation. This bug is a long standing one originally reported shortly after release of the Extraction game mode in November 2015. Limitations in 4.8.3 effectively masked the true cause. We are now in a position where we can use the logs and reports our members submitted to get to the root causes and put this one behind us.
- Once the hotfix is complete, work will continue on upgrading our workshop applications for release to the mapping community so they can begin migrating their maps to 4.11.2.
- We are still in the positive area on talks with folks who are behind our effort. What does that even mean? It means that interested parties are still interested in hearing more and are looking a little deeper into the game. We are still moving forward!
I want to thank our volunteers for all their efforts this past month in helping to get H-Hour migrated to UE4 - 4.11.2. I am very impressed with how quickly they accomplished this task and what a great job they did during the conversion. Executing an upgrade of that size and coming out the other end with no newly introduced bugs clearly shows the talent we are blessed to have working on the game. Did I also mention they were ALL volunteers? Well done, team!
Thanks to everyone who streamed H-Hour this weekend, shared pictures, tweeted or otherwise brought attention to the results of our patch. We appreciate your continued patience and support.
More next Monday…..
