Hello H-Hour community!
Last week we saw the implementation of a large number of upgrades to our Factory map, additional tuning for the pistols and some special effect improvements added to the game. For more information or to provide your feedback on the changes, check out the Patch notes here.
This week the dev team will be working on:
- Starting to model LMG weapons. We will show some pictures of these in the next few weeks.
- Continuing our analysis of weapons for tuning needs.
- Revisiting the in game special action system that is currently in place to make it more flexible and allow for the addition of new actions such as climbing ladders. Changes we want to introduce include making some action only accessible if they are under the crosshairs, some actions only accessible if facing the target, network update action in list, making an action modular so they are not as dependent on playercontroller, additional controls so actions can be cancelled (for bomb planting and defusing), additional controls so actions can be cycled through, and support for workshop map creation down the road.
- Continuing work on the new map and game mode. As long as nothing unexpected happens, we are on track to have this level completed by the end of September.
- Additional work and testing with our anti-cheat partner to resolve the server instability issue.
I would like to take this opportunity to address comments we see from some members on the pace of game development. We have been open with the community that we still have a 6-8 month development window ahead of us to complete H-Hour. That timeline recognizes the size of our development team and the amount of work that needs to be done to complete H-Hour. Though we would love to work on all the member’s priorities at the same time, we know given our size that this is just never going to be feasible. Patience is one of the many attributes required when involved with Early Access titles. Of course, the flip side is your voice is heard and you can contribute to how the game plays when complete.
Our focus these last few months has been to introduce new content to the game that member’s requested; even if only at a first pass level. It is a balancing act to deliver new content and deal with critical bugs when you have a small team and though not all bugs reported have been fixed, we are aware they exist. Rest assured that we will continue to juggle the communities priorities during the 6-8 month development window and all bugs will be addressed before H-Hour goes to full release.
More next week!
