Hello H-Hour Community!
Last week saw some work on potential fixes for the Extraction game mode crash scenario. Three areas were targeted including the Animation Blueprint for the Hostages and two logic adjustments related to audio and game state logic. A significant amount of time was spent on server testing to determine if the crash could be reproduced post fix without any replication. To further assess if this fixes this difficult to nail down bug will require full testing from the community.
At the same time, we discovered a bug in the engine that is populating the logs with a large amount of warning messages on movement of the characters. As this log messaging can affect memory requirements on the player’s system over time, a decision was made to continue with not running Extraction on the servers and hold the hotfix until this final bug could be rectified.
We spent a significant amount of time last week gathering in house data on animations. We also gathered community wish lists, videos and assessed the current state to what was originally planned. A big thank you to all who contributed video content, community feedback and particularly to those who slogged through it all to come up with a master list for the team.
What’s Ahead?
- The team will work on resolving the NULL messaging on character movement so the accumulated fixes can be released to the public for further testing.
- Once the release is complete, the focus will return to upgrading our workshop applications for the mapping community. We are pleased to see many of our mappers have already begun the migration of their maps to 4.11.2 in anticipation of the new workshop app.
- We will be setting up access for a well known animation studio to come in and assess H-Hour’s current state animations against our master list so we can get an estimate of the time and costs involved for this major deliverable.
- We’re continuing to make progress with regards to folks interested in getting behind SOFs. The reason for looking more into our animations is a direct reflection on our investment talks. We, as a Studio, realize that animations MUST be fixed.
It is nice to see so many of you streaming H-Hour and allowing others to see and enjoy the progress that has been made. Thanks to everyone involved in helping to keep the dream of a spiritual successor to SOCOM alive. Everyone’s contribution counts, whether it is volunteer work, streaming, tweeting or playing on the servers.
Most importantly, I want to thank those sacrificing their free time to continue development while we go through the slow process of securing funding. You guys and gals are amazing.
More next Monday…..
