Hello H-Hour Community!
The team had a busy week working on a first pass at updating the Workshop Editor and Uploader applications. The Workshop Editor is a separate application from our game but has numerous elements from the game itself that are modified for public reference. We now have a prototype which has just been released to those in our dev testing group that worked with testing the original Workshop Editor.
What’s Ahead?
- The team will be working closely with the testers over the coming weeks to vet the updates are working proper, and also to test migration of previous map projects.
- Issues and fixes will be reviewed and worked as they appear during this testing phase.
- Pre-existing maps created in the old editor version add a layer of complexity that we did not previously have to deal with. So we plan on carefully walking through this in order to provide existing projects a viable path to upgrade without having to recreate their maps and materials from scratch.
- Once all the issues have been addressed and tested, the new launch of the Workshop Editor will come with an updated guide, updated workshop project file, and updated uploader tool.
- While this work is underway, as time permits, the team will be looking at a few minor non-game play tweaks/additions that could be released at the same time as the workshop patch.
- On the investor front, things are extremely positive. The interest is there and we are continuing our detailed discussions. As you can see by now, working through the investment process takes a lot of time and effort. I do recognize it can be frustrating for others to wait this out along side of us. The process is rigorous and involves many stages but we are in this for the win. I will continue to work hard at completing the groundwork needed to get the outcome we all want to see for H-Hour.
I want to thank everyone for another productive week on H-Hour. Seeing so many dedicated to playing the game, promoting it or volunteering their time to move development forward keeps my spirits high. I am also very excited to see how the tests on the new editor for the workshop shake out. This next week will be critical in identifying just how much work we have to do. I know some of our map creators are equally excited as I have seen tweets about their successful conversions to 4.11.2 and even a few hints from them that new content for the community is planned. Thanks everyone for your patience and continued support!
More next Monday…..
