The towers summoned by the player aren’t the only structures you’ll encounter during the game. During map generation, neutral structures can also appear, adding extra variety to the gameplay. At first glance, these might seem like they’re just filling space on the map, but we plan for each neutral structure to have its own unique function. As the game progresses, the player will unlock more of these structures, and they will appear in future runs.
One such structure already in the game is the Soulstone. Its primary function is to grant the player additional souls, which can later be spent on new towers. To activate the Soulstone, the player simply needs to build a tower next to it. For each tower built near a Soulstone, the player will receive bonus souls at the end of the round. Additionally, there are upgrade cards that enhance towers built next to the Soulstone, allowing them to deal extra damage to enemies.

The cards a player includes in their deck can turn seemingly useless structures into valuable assets. For example, trees that might normally occupy map space can become useful. Soul Lantern has a card that transforms each tree near the tower into a haunted tree, which will attack enemies. As the game develops and more towers and cards are added, neutral structures will gain even more potential uses. Not to mention, some enemy abilities will also be able to interact with these structures.
Neutral structures offer another layer of strategy, allowing us to create interesting scenarios and encouraging players to test new tactics. If you could add a new neutral structure to the game, what would it be?
