Upgrade cards are a crucial element of our game – they can ultimately decide the outcome of a match. The cards included in your deck and the order in which they are chosen will have a significant impact on whether the run ends in success or failure.
Upgrade cards are divided into 3 tiers: common, uncommon, and rare. This division is based not only on the strength of their effects but also on how they influence the game. First-tier cards are the simplest – they generally provide a small benefit or a larger one at the cost of another stat. These upgrades focus on the core attributes of a tower. Their power isn’t too high because you can include up to three of the same card from this tier in your deck, allowing you to increase their effectiveness. These cards are designed so that even if a player picks opposing upgrades (e.g., increasing attack speed at the cost of damage and increasing damage at the cost of attack speed), the player will still come out slightly ahead. This allows for strategies that focus on one stat early in the game and then transition to another.
Uncommon and rare cards can only be added to your deck as a single copy. Second-tier cards typically offer bigger benefits but require meeting certain conditions to activate them, such as having the tower built near another tower. Since you can only have one copy in your deck, the effects of these cards are often more noticeable and can have a more dramatic impact. Upgrades in this tier can change how a tower is used, such as halving its range but doubling its damage.

Rare cards have the most dramatic effects and can sometimes completely change how a tower functions. They are often just very strong upgrades, such as doubling the range bonus for height placement, but they can also provide large bonuses with strict conditions, like only allowing one copy of the tower. In extreme cases, they might cause the tower to stop dealing damage but, for example, increase the rewards earned from killing enemies.
The design of these cards means that the best deck isn’t simply one filled with second- and third-tier cards but a well-balanced mix of upgrade cards from all tiers that work together and support the same strategy.
At the start of the game, players will only have access to some of the cards, and over time they will unlock more advanced ones. The player will decide in which order they are unlocked. We hope this will help players get familiar with the available options and avoid overwhelming them with too many choices at the beginning of the game.
