Hey Armello Family!
Lock & Key v1.3 has been unlocked on Steam! This is our third, free, major update and we are really excited for you to all dive into it. If you're the type of person who likes to touch base with the technical points, we got you. Here are the full patch notes for Lock & Key.
For our beautiful pals who are patiently waiting for this update to land on PS4 and DRM-Free services, v1.3 will land on these platforms soon - hold tight for more info.
But for now, let’s sink our teeth into the major features of this patch.
All of your heart's desires can be found in the right chest.
From v1.3 onward, as a reward for participating in public multiplayer games (any game where you've queued to find players), players may be awarded either a Chest or Key upon completing a game. When unlocked, these chests yield glorious and bountiful treasures in the form of dice skins.
The first wave of Dice Skins featured in v1.3 are the Wyld's Bounty Collection. This will contain ten (10) new sets of varying rarity that players can hunt for.
These dice skins can be traded or sold through the Steam Marketplace and can also be transmogrified to obtain skins of higher rarities. Be sure to read all about the ins and outs of this exciting new system in detail here!
That's right! Followers now cost ZERO gold to equip! For this one, League of Geeks Director and design guru, Blake Mizzi has provided his insight on the reasons behind the change. Here's what he had to say;
"We decided to make Followers in Armello, which cost Gold, free in this latest update. Some Followers will still credit the player with Rot, but by far the majority are now free. We did this as a response to the reduced flow of Followers occurring in games compared to Treasures (which are effectively free). Gold is a resource that is stretched across many activities in Armello, from playing Trickery Cards, to equipping Items and playing consumables. Having Followers also require this resource was heavily hampering their use. Like Treasures we’re going to maintain the Rot gain which help us to empower, balance and theme these very special cards. We’d much rather see these awesome little characters join you on your quest for the throne more often and allow more players to mix their abilities in interesting ways. After all you are a hero seeking the throne of Armello, journeying across the land, venturing into a dark dungeons or completing a Quest is enough to earn their favour and loyalty."
From the beginning of time, The Mad King House Rule was meant to be part of the core rule set, and now it is! As were the effects of the House Rule, The King ensures that there are at least four (4) perils on the board every dusk. If there are less, The King plays his own to "top up" the peril quota.
This may seem like a minor adjustment but your ventures will definitely feel more perilous. Naturally, this has a few implications on House Rules. Now, in Custom Games, players can turn this rule off or turn it up to "Madder King". This will make The King plunge further into insanity and ensures that there are at least eight (8) perils on the board at every dusk.
Well, that's a wrap! If you're excited like I am, I'll probably see you in the public queue! Be sure to tune into our big launch Twitch stream at 6:00pm Pacific Time to check the build in action! There may even be a sneaky giveaway or two!
