Hello, folks.

Of Ash and Steel releases next week—on November 24th. This is our final opportunity to express our gratitude for all your support leading up to the launch. We appreciate the interest in the game we've worked on for the past few years; Of Ash and Steel is meant to be the quintessence of what we love about video games.

First of all, it is time for us to reveal the game's price, global release times, and remind you about the system requirements. Let us dive in.

⚔️ The Spirit of Of Ash and Steel ⚔️

At its core, Of Ash and Steel is an experience that was inspired by old-school RPGs that came out around the turn of the millennium. It is a game that takes the time to tell a story at a steadier pace, while not holding the player's hand in the process. Let us have a look at some of the distinctive features of our game:

📜You will read/listen quite a lot. We have an extensive story to tell, featuring many nuances and intricate details. The game's carefully crafted, vast lore will also shine through here and there, captured in literature and folk gossip.

📜The map doesn't offer quest markers as you might expect from a modern role-playing title. You must listen carefully to what the townsfolk say and read your quest journal. If you pay attention to these details, you will be surprised by how quickly you find your way around the island on which the game takes place.

📜Do not expect yourself to be the Hero right away. You start as a simple man, a cartographer by the name of Tristan, whose bread and butter is creating maps. You have never wielded a sword in your life—and now, you must learn how to defend yourself in the hostile world of the Grayshaft island. You must master the combat mechanics by learning to manage your stamina, time attacks, and parry. Determine which combat stance and weapon types suit you best.

📜Of Ash and Steel rewards curiosity. Explore the surroundings thoroughly —and you will reap bountiful rewards.

📜We put a heavy emphasis on the atmosphere and did our best for every location to feel alive. The tavern welcomes you with warmth and chatter, while murky swamps remind you that danger is never far.

📜Estimating play time has always been difficult before release, as developers don't play the game the same way as players would.

📜For a long time, we worried that the amount of in-game content might not be enough. Though after going through multiple tests, we suddenly realized that the main quest line alone has approximately 40-50 hours of gameplay. And that’s not counting side quests and exploration.

We are a tight-knit team, and this is our first major project. We wanted to make everything as polished as possible, but, of course, you may still encounter some bugs, which we will promptly address and fix. Don't hesitate to report them to us here in this subforum or in our Discord community; also, have a look at this list of Known Issues:

Of Ash and Steel fits the definition of an indie game in many ways. As we've mentioned already, we created Of Ash and Steel as a comparatively small team of passionate developers who wanted to recreate that 2000s PC gaming feeling, while having enough creative freedom required to experiment. Here is what you SHOULD NOT expect from Of Ash and Steel:

• It is not a casual experience with plenty of modern features like auto-aim or quest markers. Do not expect the map to guide you around using a big shiny arrow or pathfinding.

• It is not a fast-paced power fantasy RPG. Of Ash and Steel is more grounded and realistic in terms of gameplay difficulty and world-building.

• It is not a tale that clearly distinguishes good from evil. Be prepared to make some "gray" choices.

• You cannot create your own character, but you can customize his appearance.; the game's story has been crafted around Tristan as the protagonist.

• Of Ash and Steel is not a souls-type game focused primarily on combat. It has a strong emphasis on storytelling, dialogue, exploration, and even survival elements.

• Our studio focused heavily on crafting a visually appealing, immersive world with a distinct atmosphere. However, Of Ash and Steel is not a triple-A game.

Once again, thank you very much for your support and interest in the game. We shall see you all on November 24, adventurers.
