This is a smaller update than the previous in terms of what directly changes for you in the app's behaviour.
But we've been hard at work tracking down and fixing some of the more tricky bugs, adding more tests, and future-proofing our visuals production toolchain.
Bugs fixed
First what will directly improve for you; the bugs we fixed:
- Banks; when dragged and dropped on Banks would always move to the bottom position on the Deck. No more. This one was unpleasant.
- Items dropped on a Bank handle, now go into the Bank, just like with Decks
- A rare bug causing a crash when deleting the last Bank in a Deck, while having 3 Sets; Fixed!
- Replacing a Deck when hovering over, instead of selecting, didn't work. Now it does work
- Using the Keyboard shortcut to create a new Deck didn't work. Now it does
- When the Messages "side-app" is open, the newest message now subtly flashes
If you reported (other) bugs, we're keeping a list and working through them! Please keep reports coming!
Automated Tests
Most of these bugs we found, and tracked down thanks to our new automated tests. We've got 60 of them now. Having the computer tests the app saves a lot of time over doing it manually (in literally a minute, what would take a day manually), and ensures it's done consistently before every release. Avoiding the re-appearance of earlier bugs.
We started adding tests because of a bad bug some weeks back that affected only new installs. Which we, nor our Discord community of longer-term users ran into for days, as ...well..., we already had it installed. We fixed it within 2 days, but it was one of these never again moments. Thus the new install scenario is covered by an automated test now.
Most of our other tests so far cover drag & drop, and keyboard control. We'll keep adding to our tests as we work on things. It will be a while - alongside our normal development - before near full test coverage is here. But we aim to make AI VJ as bug-free as can be!
We've also got something in the works with regards to visuals. But more on that later.
