Three feature requests fulfilled this week, and several reported bugs fixed!
Logo DLC video logos!:
- For those with the Customize Your DJ Logo DLC: Videos can now be loaded onto the logo decks, and will play just like image logos (feature request by Habbening).
They're shown transparently on top of any visuals playing at 50% alpha for now. In a later update you'll be able to adjust this, & we'll also be adding support for logos of multiple DJs.
No more banner!:
- For everyone: The AI VJ banner that appears once every 20 minutes can now be disabled from the DJ Logos menu!
Previously requiring the Logo DLC for this was something that seemed to make business sense, but didn't sit quite right with me. A review by DarkSeraph made me reconsider & drop that requirement.
So now AI VJ is fully usable as a free VJ app.
The Logo DLC for logos & adding your own banners is something we keep though.
Logo buttons are a 'nice to have' convenience feature that even Resolume (at € 299) doesn't have as such, and that any performing DJ (with a logo) should easily be able to afford after using AI VJ without a logo (or with a logo loaded onto a visuals Bank) for a night.
Also note that income from DLCs goes directly towards development; AI VJ so far is still mostly a labour of love that I'm using for my own shows, rather than something that's making me a living wage.
Adding support for logo videos was good preparation for adding layer support for all visuals, in a future update. We'll have to finish some other updates first before this can happen.
Yet with this update we're moving (allbeit slowly, and with a small step) towards our aim of becoming the easiest to use (free) VJ app!
And a lot of smaller fixes:
- An overhaul of the menu (feature request / report by Anne).
The menu needed updating for the new Unity version, and in the process we have improved consistency, and visual effects such as the tick-marks with selected settings, and making the sub-menu arrows point in the right (left) direction.
- A bug that occasionally caused switching between full-screen & windowed mode to be unreliable was nipped. Having to dive into the ancient Windows DLLs that deal with this again was not pretty. But it should work more consistently now.
- A bug with the logos & AI VJ banner having an unwanted line at the top has been fixed. As well as a bug making grey squares sometimes appear, and a rare bug in the frequency of the appearance of the banner when enabled & its ordering with regard to the logos.
- The fractals appearing too small at first play for 6 seconds on certain screen setups now no longer happens.
- Spout output settings are now saved with the settings.
