Hello everyone! As you already know, I am working on the future co-op mode for the game, planning how it should be and what things it will need. However, it wouldn't be very entertaining with the current mode, so this update will be much larger than the previous ones. It will not yet have the co-op mode, but it will have the new game mode called "Career." This mode is an evolution of Doll Impostor that will include Economy, Levels, Experience, and Items. The final idea of this mode is to solve a case each time, hence why this update is called "Cases Update."
This update aims to offer a more unique experience each time. This will be vital for the co-op version so that you and your friends can find all the clues and solve the case together.
The goal is to have procedural maps with completely different and much more generic dolls than the current ones, so that, for example, only the appearance changes but all have the same pose.
What does it consist of?
You will have some random cases to solve. These cases will appear every time you enter the safe zone. Once a case is selected, you cannot choose another; you will have to finish it or abandon it. Before identifying the impostor, you will have to discover the behaviors. Once you discover some of them, you will have to mark them, as well as the information of each doll, including the photographs. Each clue you find will give you money and experience in your case, which will be delivered at the end. When you have all the clues you need, you can start the hunt.
Reasons to choose a case
The map will change with each case, as will the information given and the reward for each detail discovered and for the impostor discovered.
Abandoning a case
Every time you abandon a case, you will be financially penalized.
Discovering behaviors
This part is vital and is proportionally dependent on your level in the game. The higher the level, the less information will be available. For this, the items come into play, where you will have to use them together to identify the details of the dolls. An example of this could be a book of souls, which after a ritual allows you to possess the body of one of the dolls. Activate your traps and return later. When you return, you will see what this doll did and can note the missing clues.
Hunt
With all the clues in your favor (it is highly recommended), you will have to return to the place, place a book of souls on the spot, and sleep. This will immediately start a classic game, but all the clues obtained will be your clues. If you discover the impostor, you will receive 100% of the reward. If you don't succeed, you will receive 50% of everything accumulated.
Economy
The economy will be a vital point in this new mode. When you win a classic game, depending on the difficulty, it will give you more or less money. This will be useful for doing various things in career mode.
Levels and Experience
Levels and experience will be saved in your statistics. The higher the level, the less information you will have, but the more information you get, the greater the reward.
Items
It is still too early to confirm the items, but some of the key ones would be:
- Book of Souls: This is the most important since it allows you to possess a doll to perform an action.
- Notebook: This is also extremely important as you will mark the names of the dolls on the list.
- Camera: The camera will also be an important element to photograph each doll to have it on your panel.
- Fuse: This item will be necessary to activate electrical things (may require multiple fuses).
- Flashlight: This item will also be key because you won't have any light points.
These are just some of the ideas in mind, but they do not necessarily have to be the final result. The most important thing about this update is that it aims to be a truly unique experience each time and to maintain the previous ones, in fact, merging them in the sense that you will earn money in classic mode. This update is very necessary to provide very unique experiences when you play with friends each time. It is undoubtedly one of the most complex and elaborate updates that Doll Impostor will have, but I think that after the successful development of this, the next step would be to provide the co-op experience.
I want to emphasize that the original mode will remain exactly the same as always; this is an addition to the game, not a replacement.
