The item rework is finally here! There are now many changes that should hopefully make inventory management much less painful. Not only that, but artifacts have finally been added to the game as well, and there are a few tweaks to the castle levels too.
Additionally, I ended up going on a QoL rampage this patch. I'm very excited about some of the changes there, and the game is now more playable than ever. I feel like it's in a very good state for me to put some time aside and start focusing on the next class, the Monk.
Note: This update introduces new game options, and thus will reset your options. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Gameplay:
-Castle tweaks:
--Made rooms smaller on average.
--Added in the arena room. This will block your path until you deal with a miniboss.
--Added in the vault. These are packed with monsters, but have some very nice rewards...
-Items:
--Completely overhauled the system for forcing good spawns. Monsters/rooms/events that are supposed to spawn good items will actually always do so now.
--Removed many redundant talismans from the game(almost all had an equivalent pill), in order to prevent inventory bloat.
--Scrolls and talismans spawn more rarely in general.
--Artifacts have finally been implemented! Some of them have technically been in the game for a while, but there are more now, and they actually do what they say they do.
--Artifacts will also be a little bit more common now.
-Other:
--Focus now only works if there is an adjacent enemy. It also expires when combat ends.
--Broadspears now have a special keyword that lets them ignore STR requirements. The Spearwoman perk has been changed slightly.
--The Water Dragon Orb no longer works on noncombat floors(baths etc).
--The first bath is now a full bath that restores all fatigue.
--Added art for the Dojo, fountains, Blood Pool and Diviner.
--Temporarily removed Calligraphy from the game, since it doesn't do anything yet.
--The Ninja Initiate's blink now has a longer cooldown.
--Buffed Mizuto, servant of the water dragon slightly.
--The Ronin now begins with the Regenerator perk, to help his earlygame and his fatigue problems in general. To compensate for this, the perk has been toned down quite a bit(it was actually a lot more powerful than intended earlier).
--Nerfed bomb workshops slightly.
QOL:
Huge changes!
-Items are now color-coded in inventory, to make things more readable.
-Autopickups now trigger after events and when monsters drop things under you.
-"Preparing an item" UI now only filters your inventory if you have more than 20 items. There are also now options to make it permanent again or never filter.
-Perks are now sorted by level and class. The perk window now has a tab system where you can scroll between groups of perks(magic-related, item-related,etc).
-Running now tries to stop before corners, interactibles, and is no longer interrupted by neutral monsters.
-Smoke mines are no longer picked up automatically.
-There is now a message when a monster comes into view. There are also options to pause when this happens, including one that only pauses when a dangerous monster is seen.
-The current force-rest system has been replaced with a traditional "choose how many turns to rest" system. The number entered also defaults to your current exertion if you have any, so it's still useful for that purpose.
-Changed the item/monster description font.
-Redid the descriptions for how monsters drop items.
-In the monster descriptions, monster cooldowns will be in red if the ability is on cooldown, and green if the monster can use it. It also displays the number.
-Fixed some more typos.
Bugfixes:
-Fixed a bug where traps weren't hidden properly after loading a savegame. (It didn't occur to me that it could be caused by loading, so I thought this was already fixed for a long time. Whoops!)
-Fixed a bug where crocodiles spawned by the eggs event would fall asleep.
-Fixed the doors that seal the garden middle arena during the water dragon fight having the wrong tiles.
-Fixed some issues with item/monster descriptions.
-Quality weapons/armor now sell for more silver than normal.
