Hello Mercenaries, this is <Vindictus: Defying Fate> team.
Prior to the start of our pre-alpha test, we’d like to briefly introduce our gameplay guide and contents.
< About the playtest >
The key point of this pre-alpha test is our combat systems.
During the testing period, you’ll be able to choose between two characters of your taste.
- Fiona, a swordman who uses a one-handed sword and a shield - Fiona’s Controls & Combat Guide
- Lann, a warrior who uses a pair of swords - Lann’s Controls & Combat Guide
All characters utilize 'Normal Attacks' and 'Strong Attacks',both which you can combine to create various combo attacks.
Furthermore, each character has four of their own 'Active Skills' and 'Dodge' feature.
Once you master our Basic Guide on Combat, you’ll be able to enjoy our gameplay more.
There are currently two playable fields at the moment: The Northern Ruins and the Frozen Valley.
At the very first run, you’ll only be able to move to the Frozen Valley upon completion of the Northern Ruins.
You will be able to select battle fields you wish to play after clearing the Northern Ruins.
- Northern Ruins
- Frozen Valley
Among various Monsters you encounter during your play, Boss Monsters have Unique Attack Patterns other than Normal Attacks.
Please note that these special attacks are either unable to guard against, or unable to evade.

> Game modes
You can experience two different game modes in this pre-alpha test:

The plus mode will only be unlocked after completion of all the fields and bosses in Normal Mode.

> Pre-alpha test playable contents
You can access various character Outfits and Emotes in the game menu([ESC] Key) for free, and you can use the Photo Mode to take screenshots with different views.
These contents are all temporary only for the pre-alpha test, and there may be changes during following development processes.
- Outfits: You can try on some test outfits. Currently we do not offer combinations of outfit parts, but we are planning to add the feature in the future.
- Emotes: All Emotes are for testing purposes and are irrelevant to the individual characters’ concept or personality.
- Photo Mode: Currently the mechanism is minimized, and only has basic features.
All characters in offer distinct action styles tailored to each character, each with their own unique sense of impact and speed.
We recommend you to choose any character of your taste to have the best play experience.
During this pre-alpha test, only two characters: Fiona and Lann, will be playable.
However, we plan to add more characters with further development.
< Gamepad controls >
You can play with a keyboard and mouse.
But since the game was developed based on gamepad play, we also support gamepad controls from the pre-alpha stage.
The game is currently compatible with Xbox controllers and controller vibration features are to be updated in the future.
Thank you.
