Hey all ! I've got a full gameplay video of Windswept Highway today! Throughout the video you'll be able to see a wide variety of improvements we've made, especially since the last time we dropped a gameplay video. Speaking of, that was a month ago, so I might try to make these full videos once a month from now until release!
Now I'll point out some of the most important changes we've made. First, we've taken steps to increase visual clarity while playing, primarily by adding team-coloured outlines to units when they are obscured by map geometry or scenery. This will ensure you don't get snuck up on by sneaky Slimes hiding over a hill, which was a problem that's come up in playtesting recently. In addition, we've added a subtle edge to tiles that you can see when tiles start to blend together due to verticality and the camera angle. This should help to stop players from getting confused about the layout of the map at certain angles, and it also just looks nice.
We've also shrunk down the Damage Forecast panel to fit between the two updated Unit Info Panels. It's very likely that we completely redesign this element, but for now we've made it stop covering up parts of the UI.
We've got Class Icons now too, which you can see in the Unit Info Panel next to the unit's Class Rank. We currently have Knight, Pyromancer, Lumimancer and Archer as well as a Slime icon, but you'll see more as we show off more gameplay of classes like Enchanter and Stormcaller in future updates!
And finally, one of the most notable additions to Crystal Horizons is attack animations! Whenever basic attacking, units will go through a quick animation. We'll be adding animations to Skills and Spells over time as well! In the video, the developer doesn't use the Pyromancer and Lumimancer basic attacks, but once the animations are added to skills you'll be able to see them just fine.
There's likely some other changes here and there that you can find, but that's all the time I have for this update. Thanks for tuning in, and I'll see you all next week!
